Offline Happy new year everyone!
Christmas was good, had family coming over and had a great time, but Boxing Day was a bit of a shame. My grandma had trouble breathing and so my parents had to take her to the hospital. It all ended up alright though. NYE was a bit boring, but I’m not too fond of it anyway. Now I’m suffering from Post Christmas Depression. There are no special days in sight, the weather sucks, the house will be empty without decorations, vacation is almost over and it will be long until another one, I don’t really have anything to look forward to in the next few months and on Monday I’ll have 3 of my wisdom teeth pulled
And now I’m going to read through all the threads and posts that I missed.

Offline Have decided to quit the job I have at the moment after I have fulfilled my shift obligations this month (its zero hours with more zero than hours) and get anything nearer where I stay and just do that until I move which will be before the year ends. I’m not particularly enjoying the job I have anyway and the travel is just a pain. I’d rather do a job I dont care about near where I stay than one I dont care about further away.
So will be printing out my CV, handing it in everywhere and seeing if anything lands – hopefully it does.

Offline Some people here already know this, a half-dozen or so.
It is time I think to let everybody else know.
I will be going into hospital next Monday (11th) after being diagnosed with a form of colon cancer a couple of weeks before Christmas.
Because of my heart condition I have to have regular full medicals. This was discovered during my last one.
In that way I am probably luckier than many, in that there was no signs in my previous medical. This means that, hopefully, it has been discovered very early.
Should that be the case, the odds are in my favour. That will be discovered next week, something called “Staging” I am informed. I am hoping and praying for Stage I or Stage II.
This is obviously going to affect how active I am on the forum over the next few months. I will be as active as I can be, but obviously the treatment is going to affect. I may not always be able to be as active as you want.
I will keep people as informed as I can, but maybe not as much as some want. I know you forgive me that.
I want to take this opportunity to publicly apologise to @Wigwam. He made a mention of health problems, wishing me luck with them, in a post. I thanked him for the sentiment in a PM, but asked him to remove it as I didn’t want those knew of my heart condition starting to worry it had got worse. I was economical with the truth to avoid a discussion of my health taking over Christmas. I thank you for removing the reference Wigwam, and apologise for misleading you to prevent myself having to say anything before I was ready to.
This isn’t good, but hopefully not as bad as it might be.
As I said to someone recently, “It is what it is, and will play out as it does…”

Offline I’m so sorry to hear that, Ron. One of my closest friends has been very suddenly hospitalized with an unknown ailment and kept overnight with frequent blood tests, and I guess the hits just keep on coming. The full strength of my thoughts are behind you and a speedy recovery.

I can say nothing more than I hope all goes well, or as well as such things can go, and ’tis fortunate that it was discovered now and not later. Best wishes, and my thoughts will be with you, and all those well-meaning platitudes which we all resort to to express our genuine concern/sympathy because after all, they work. 
(I’m trying to live up to ‘most likely to cheer someone up’ here, but I don’t know quite what I did right to earn it! )

Offline Woah RN! I’m so sorry to hear that. I knew about your heart condition, but this is such awful news! And right before Christmas! The fact they’ve seen it early is definitely a pluspunt though. In cases of cancer, that’s usually very positive. I hope for an outcome that’s as good as possible and am sending my best wishes and virtual hugs your way!
I had 2 of my wisdom teeth pulled today, but that’s very minor compared to that. Came here to complain about it, but man, do I feel like a t*t now!
Living on soup and pudding is lovely though. And the needles didn’t hurt.

Offline Not much to add @Ron Nasty that hasn’t been said previously, Its horrible news but one positive is that it has been discovered early and the news next week will hopefully be that the stage is very low.
