So have we all decided that natureaker is going to kill us all now?

Only kidding natureaker, just don’t be near me with a gun or I’ll run for the hills.

My granddad used to be a hunter and he still has his shotgun in his bedroom- a thing my brothers used to do whenever I annoyed them was to point the (unloaded might I add) shotgun at me- used to scare the bejaysus out of me!

No worries. I’m too lazy to carry a heavy gun really far. Plus, this is just something I started doing for fun, and I do not plan to get a gun license. So, you’re all set! Same goes with the rest of you!

You say that but the End of Year Awards results are still to come.

A big thing in my life each year is the chore of getting my visa to stay sorted…….

Well I just thought I’d give Pattaya Immigration a pat on their golden epaulets.

As I mentioned, last year, I did my 1 year Visa renewal on Boxing Day….It was a lovely experience……So this year, I thought I’d try Christmas Day. Glad I did.

The staff were smiling and I could hear cheers coming from inside as various members arrived for work in festive gear. A guy tried to shuffle up alongside the queue I was in outside waiting for the doors to open….. and it looked like this sneaky Q jumper would succeed as the guy ahead of me seemed oblivious. So…. I couldn’t restrain myself from reaching forward and tugging his shirt.

“Oi lad there’s a queue ‘ere….It’s a short one but you ain’t in it yet.”

….And I pointed to the back. Now I’m in a good Christmas mood and I think I’m easy going and I know we’ll all get processed in time…..but I can’t abide queue jumpers……. If I let people do that to me I’d feel rotten about myself all day.

Anyway, he says with a far-away look that he’s got a ‘heart condition’……so I felt guilty and offered him a place in front of me……..I should write a biography and call it ‘Gullibles’ Travels’

Got my numbered slip inside showing there were 2 ahead of me at the 1 year desk. The lady staff at my counter looked gorgeous in their civies and antler-horns…….And were busy taking selfies.

The two ahead of me were called together, slightly before the official 8.30 kick-off. Moments later ‘Rudolph’s’ beautiful Thai sister beckoned me over.

While she checked and re-organised my papers I signed two forms I hadn’t seen before…….Probably a promise not to leer at the immigration staff in future. Handed over the money, given my change and I was done. Told to collect my passport Monday and wished a ‘Merry Christmas’. I checked my watch I was out the door before 8.30.

Went in today……..Very busy but collected my passport with the new visa stamp taking about 2 mins including a photo they take of you now.

Bit of photo-copying and I was ready to do my ‘multi-entry’ (Allowing me to leave and enter Thailand as often as I like)….Got a number showing only 2 ahead of me even though the place was packed. Processing the multi-entry took 10 mins and I was out the door.

A quick trip to get a laminate colour copy for my wallet in case I’m stopped by a policeman and job done.

Pattaya Immigration have got things as efficiently organised as all of that red tape can be. They were polite and friendly. Well done them!

How you coping @Ahhh Girl?

We have weather warnings for tomorrow (wind) and Wednesday (rain). Will be setting up camp for those days and be prepared for power cuts.

We have propane heaters so we aren’t cold. We will start the generator soon so mom can make her coffee.

It’s 46 degrees out here and was raining quite heavily. Everyone out here is all scared because this is unknown for California. I kinda like it though a-hard-days-night-john-1

So guys, I think I’ve found a pretty perfect girl. I’d talked with her a few times at school during lunch and she’s pretty cool and she was in the group I went to see Star Wars with. She’s a huge Star Wars need like me. Well we started messaging the other day and turns out she plays guitar and she likes our favourite Liverpudlians. The only bad thing is she’s also a One direction fan.

Im really chuffed about this one and am currently working on getting a date setup so we’ll see what happens.

Messaging sounds promising. One bad thing? Differences make relationships more interesting – you can’t have everything in common.

Wow – parcel delivery at 7:45 am!

CDs from Amazons France and USA (ironically the CDs from the USA were manufactured in France) – lots of classical goodness – 155 CDs worth of classic performances from the Philips and Deutsche Grammophon labels.

The delivery driver recognised me and commented on my new address; I guess I mail-order way too much ‘stuff’ 😉

I think 155 cds would fall into ‘order way too much’ category.

If I buy two cds I think its Christmas.

More than a week ago, a job recruiter sent me an electronic mail with a number to call about a job opportunity. I’ve called her three times and have gotten voicemail every single time. I’d say it’s likely that she’s taking time off during the holiday season.

Leave it at three messages* and wait to see what happens next week when the world of work commences properly (not sitting at desks talking about nothing whilst eating chocolates). If you keep phoning leaving messages you’ll leave the world of keen enthusiastic potential employee and enter the dimension of weird creepy dude.

It’s the brave new world of classical mega-boxes dirt-cheap. Many of them cost less than the price of 2 or 3 full-price CDs and you can obtain all the works of a particular composer or performer; or perhaps 100 CDs surveying the history of music through the ages.

Around another 250 on the way 🙂

Yes, @trcanberra, goes to a classical CD-site, takes a look, and goes, “Right! I’ll buy the lot!”

Too close to the truth – and I just avoided having coffee spurting out of my nose by seconds when I read this 🙂

Boxed sets, often at less than $2 per CD. The classical companies are using their already established catalogues to sell everything they can before those of us who like physical products are no longer in the market.

^ And I must admit, when deciding whether to spend $100 or so on the 1+ bluray or on 55 of the best classical CDs from Philips, it was no contest.
