Ahhh Hong Kong…….Fragrant Harbour……

Isn’t Chicago ‘smell of onions’ in some Indian language?

Rental accommodation secured – moving on November 11.

Estimates of the detritus of 14 years to be removed after we move – 3 large truck-loads!!

Pretty much so.  Close enough.  It varies a little depending on whose translation you’re using.

I'm Necko.  I'm like Ringo except I wear necklaces.

I'm also ewe2 on weekends.

Most likely to post things that make you go hmm... 2015, 2016, 2017.

My favourite native American place name story is from Bill Bryson……..Apparently when an early colonist reconnoitring party asked an Indian what name they called this place…..He replied, ‘Wingancon’ and so that was what they called the area……..Later they discovered that ‘windgancon’ means, “What gay clothes you wear’

Today the area is known as Virginia.

@trcanberra I’m reading your post and listening to –

Long may you run
Long may you run
Although these changes
Have come
With your chrome heart shining
In the sun
Long may you run

Seems appropriate to send this along to you 10,000 miles away, as you begin your new life adventure.

Once again I’m living @HongKongLady’s life vicariously – but as she’s not awake yet – what the heck!

Today is B-day!!

When biometrics are taken for the tourist visa application – once they are done we press the big red button and hope for the best!!!

With any luck HKL and trc (I hope I have the capitalisation correct) will be meeting up in Oz in early December 🙂

Update – they have begun processing the visa application. I just spent 20 minutes on the phone with a nice lady from Immigration in HK. They wanted to see a few more supporting documents and will talk to HKL and her employer tomorrow as well. They were very professional but it seems a bit of overkill for a one-week holiday.

Anyway, once we have jumped through all the hoops I’m still feeling positive about the outcome. Keep that BB positive karma flowing all!!

.. and thanks for all the good wishes 🙂

We are celebrating the first year of living in our new PA home – we closed a year ago today. Only 29 more years and it’s all ours!

I’ll be 81…and waiting for Volume III of Lewisohn’s book to be published. a-hard-days-night-john-3

I’m going to a pub quiz tonight with friends that I haven’t seen in 2 months.

I’m currently praying for a good few Beatles’ questions that and no-sport round, yuck sport. We’re a well-rounded team all in all, and I hope that there’ll be a round on books and musicals as I should do well in those. Another girl is great is on films, we’re all good at television, I’m decent at politics and history. The others are good at science. We’re all just sh*t at sports.

It should be interesting!

Wish me luck!

Sounds like you may do well. After all, how often could sports possibly come up in a pub? ahdn_paul_01

Just back from it now: Oh dear (or should I say ‘Oh boy’?)

Absolutely tanked in sports- 1/10, the only one we got right was what the Sam Maguire cup was modelled on, we even got last week’s rugby match score wrong….oops :/

Same as in geography 2/10, despite 2 of us having gotten an A1 in the Leaving Cert in it (In our defence Irish Geography is on how things form, how climate affects what forms there, how humans have an effect on a land’s geography etc.), apparently Canada has the longest coastline in the world, not Chile, who knew? *Waits for a Canadian Bibler to go “I did*

True to form I got all of the literary and politics questions right (Ron Nasty’s beloved Jeremy Corbyn was an answer, as well as ‘Which Irish poet was in the first seating of the Irish Free State’s Parliamen’- W.B Yeats and who was the first woman parliament member- Countess Markievicz) and I got most of the history and musicals questions right (I forgot who won the Tony* this year for best musical-damn you Fun Home!).

No Beatles question came up, there wasn’t even a music round but in the picture round I managed to identify the great Bob Dylan and Priscilla Presley- so not shabby.

There wasn’t a television or movie round either, so we could have never won really.

The prizes were bottles of wine anyways so meh.

*I feel that it’s obligatory to post this video whenever I mention the ‘Tony’ awards. Although I amn’t a massive fan of the film version of The Producers’ musical (I love the original with Gene Wilder though) I do love this one scene and I think it’s brilliance in a 9 second clip.

How can you not know what the Sam Maguire Cup is, do you even follow Irish sport?*

It’s given to the All-Ireland Senior Champions in Gaelic Football.

Here’s the Wikipedia page on the man

*Funnily enough, neither do I 😉

I moused over the little arrow to the above post and was staring at the preview of the post while waiting for this page to load (which took eons) and I saw the asterisk

and I just knew the footnote would be

(Yeah, It took almost a week, but better late than never) My exam was way easier than what I expected, and I did very well, or at least better than the last time when they asked me “How are you?” and I said I was 12 years old a-hard-days-night-paul-11. And they accidentally called me Paul, which is no way bad even though I’m far more attractive than him a-hard-days-night-paul-3. But really, I still don’t know how can you get confused and call a girl Paul (even If my name sounds similar), maybe my A Hard Day’s Night t-shirt had something to do with it. Now I only have the written exam in early December and I’ll be free.

Plans? What are those?

Actually, I don’t have any, I’ll probably just hang out with my best friend and visit my grandparents, what I usually do in summer. Apart from that and going to the beach, it’s not like there’s a lot to do.
