“On a lighter note there is going to be announced a play-off for 5th place…….It’s called the 6 Nations.”
Are any of them good enough to win it?? 😉

Haven’t been in here in exactly a month. Both my laptop and tablet broke down (CAN YOU F*CKING BELIEVE THAT?!), but they’re both fixed now.
Having a week off at the moment. Had a party on Saturday. Internship is still fun, helped hosting a Halloween movienight for the kids last week, with everyone being dressed up. I’m behind with schoolwork, as I had no means to work with. Things at home are horrible. Everyone is sick and dying. Today is not my day.
And now I’m making my way through shitloads of pages on this forum.

Sorry to hear things are not great at home Linde. It is great having you back on here tho.
Happy that you got your devices repaired, the internship is fun and there was a Halloween party – even if it was a bit early. Did you get into costume for the party?

Life is such an emotional roller coaster. Wonder that we stay mostly sane.
I wish I could live life with the attitude of the Russian spy in the movie Bridge of Spies.
Tom Hanks: Are you worried? Do you ever worry?
Russian Spy: Would it help? (He says it in such a deadpan manner. Like he would start worrying if Hanks told him to.)

One of the teachers got dressed up as a scary guy with the Scream mask and all, which was funny. The kids were really scared. You have to remember, these are 11/12 year olds with some form of autism. The rest of us didn’t dress up, but we had some of those headbands with pumpkins/skulls/creepy stuff and glasses in the shape of pumpkins/skulls/etc. so we wore that. They watched Hotel Transylvania, and I have to say that another teacher and me were both secretly enjoying the movie too. She was laughing harder than the kids, which was pretty funny.

I have an analysis due tomorrow and I haven’t finished it and I’m ‘sitting here doing nothing but procrastinating’ a la ASJ.

It ain’t procrastinating. It’s only procrastinating if you haven’t finished the day it’s due!

*and to top it all off, as we both sang along with the Abbey Road medley last night, we discovered that we naturally harmonize! We hit a few notes on YNGMYM and made it almost all the way through Carry That Weight . I’ve been trying to harmonize for 35 years with minimal success! How sweet is that?

Well, I’ve hardly had anything interesting go on at all. The only thing people were talking about was it being “Back To The Future day”. Even my English and Math Applications teacher wished the entire class “Happy Back To The Future day!”.
… and that’s the only thing interesting that has happened for a bit, besides people coming up with songs to help remember things (I’m looking at you, French and Social Studies) and the dreaded Fitness Gram. My legs are still sore from doing the PACER yesterday

Yesterday was one of the few historical dates I remember………..The Battle of Trafalgar. Like every school boy in my youth Nelson was a bit of a hero. His ‘Raking manoeuvre’ employed at that battle was a brilliantly calculated risk that won the day.
The French were lined up and waiting at Trafalgar and able to fire broadside after broadside at the British, who were unusually not forming a line to fire back themselves, but sailing straight for the French, presenting a smaller target but completely unable to return fire. For what must have seem a hellishly long time the British ships just took everything the French could throw at them. Nelson’s ships then split from their two columns and sailed for the gaps between the French ships……. and only then at point blank range and on both sides they let their cannons roar……And now it was the French who were completely vulnerable and unable bring their guns to bear.
But it wasn’t only Nelson’s audacious battle plan and faster rate of fire of the British cannons that won the day………There was a moment in the battle that typified the discipline and determination and bloody courage of the British sailors…. Two French ships attached themselves and boarded a British frigate from opposite sides. But it wasn’t long before both French flags were hauled down and the union jack fluttered over all three ships.
Of course all this pales into insignificance set next to ‘Back to the Future Day’.
A friend of mine, a teacher was taking a class through Trafalgar square on her way with them to the Gallery when one of the girls pointing at the Column asked …’Who’s that up there Miss?’
Shocked and incredulous that she didn’t already know ‘Miss’ barked ‘That’s Nelson’
Equally flabbergasted the girls says…….”What’s Nelson Mandela doing stuck up there for Miss?”
Ah well we all have out heroes……
