As noted on the ‘wishing’ thread @HongKongLady and I have submitted a tourist visa application so that she can (hopefully) visit Australia for a week or so in early December.

They are a bit tough with applications these days but as it’s only for a week we are pretty hopeful it will get approved.

She was here with a previous employer in 2010 and the koalas are missing her!! 🙂

If watching hundreds of episodes of ‘Nothing To Declare’ has taught me anything, it’s that so long as you can confirm that you’re not there to work and you do declare any non-processed fruit/vegetables/fish etc. that you may have, the Australian authorities are happy.

I hear koalas are awful buggers, that are prone to “relieving themselves” on humans and thus they can spread chlamydia (that’s a fact), that and beware of the boxing-kangaroos and mind your babies around dingoes!

I got my first progress report back for this year. Turns out, I got honors roll with that progress report. Strangely science, English, and math applications (a.k.a. the subject everyone hates) are my worst subjects. And, even stranger for me…

I have an A in regular math class and an A+ in Frencha-hard-days-night-ringo-6

I know, its a miracle, especially nailing French with it only being my first year taking it

So yeah, not much goes on anymore in my little lonely life besides school. Hopefully I’ll have more going on during another day 🙂

Think I’m on the back end of it! Hopefully! And thanks for the “get well” messages.

Thursday. I mainly slept. When awake, bad headache, bunged-up nose, cough, cough, splutter, cough! Ooo! Dreadful. Go back to sleep.

Friday. I mainly slept. When awake, bad headache, cough, cough, splutter, cough! Yay! No more bunged-up nose! Boo! Drippy-drippy nose! No matter how long you hold the tissue under your nose, no matter how slowly or quickly you drop the hand holding the tissue down into your lap, your nose drips the second the tissue is as far away as it’s going. Go back to sleep.

Saturday. I mainly slept. When awake, less bad headache, machine-gun coughing and sneezing. Go back to sleep.

Wake up again. No headache. Coughed no more than I’ve sneezed, and I’ve sneezed twice. Nose and throat still a bit raw, but hopefully on the sunny side of the street!

I start my first proper day of work tomorrow after a number of shadow shifts. Nervy.

The x-factor is on. A man called Tom sounding like a very ill Bee Gee on helium getting strangled is singing (tho its debatable if thats the correct word). He gets thru.

Its nothing more than awful karaoke singers murdering ballads before chopping them up into tiny little pieces, putting them in an acid bath, and letting them dissolve into a horrid goo. Leaves a very horrid, revolting taste in the back of the throat that your trying to get rid of for days.

I got a scratch in one lens of the highly scratch-resistant lenses of my eyeglasses. I’m seeing a spot. Ugg. I’m at mom’s and won’t be back to be able to get them fixed for a week. I’m glad I brought my backup pair of glasses.

Okay, glad you have a spare set – but now we need to know how it happened 🙂

That, my friend, is the $64,000 question.

If it hit me before, I don’t remember it dawning on me…Hong Kong’s Octopus card…Octopus’s Garden .

Today I sent in a job application for a multimedia job at a university library.  It’d be cool if I got it, because it sounds like something I’d really enjoy doing and it pays well for a straight-outta-college job.

I also did a small, low-paying freelance job today in revising a college application essay.  It was written by a Korean girl whose first language was quite obviously not English who was looking to go to college in the United States.  Believe me, it was a lot of work, but still enjoyable and a way to get some quick cash (and actually put my English – Creative Writing degree to use).

OK. I’m sure you’ll be their retirement system then. Good stuff. After working in the library in that position for a while, maybe you can work your way up at the university. The benefits are probably really good. I really, really hope you get the job.
