Final Open House tonight before tomorrow’s auction.Interest has been rather minimal to date so unless something unusual happens I expect it to be passed-in tomorrow and go on the open market.
Still, I guess there is a chance it will sell – so here’s hoping.
The other (selling at a huge loss) house settles on Friday so that will be one major financial liability off my mind.
Good luck with both the sales, I guess its better taking the hit than getting a big price.
How are you and the kids feeling over the sales @trcanberra?

Bloody awful to be honest @meanmistermustard – but life must (and most likely will) go on. I still have no idea where I will end up living – one thing at a time. There is no point starting to rent someplace new until the house sells.
I must admit I had flirted with the idea of moving back to the UK – perhaps the Welsh countryside – but I suspect it is too late to become a Brit again – and I have no idea what I might do for a quid out there. It’s probably just the prospect of losing the family home causing a twinge of latent homesickness.
One thing’s for certain: I need room for the Beatles collection – hopefully including that nice-looking release coming up in a couple of months!! 🙂

Isnt a nice thing not knowing what will happen after. All the best with it all, hopefully things will settle down quickly and a new chapter of live will begin with gusto.

We won a game of rugby!!!!
So did we last Saturday.
We gave Canada a damn good whacking, 50-7
It’s funny as in Ireland it’s mostly kids who go to posh private schools (mainly in Dublin) that play rugby, the rest of us all play Gaelic football or hurling.
So it is something that we actually have a good rugby team!

Internet problems!!!!
My first problems with 3! I ran out of data about 10 on Monday night. I got a top up on Tuesday. I put it in, it kicked me out. I could see the 16-digit number wasn’t going in right though. It usually automatically breaks the number into 4-digit groups. It wasn’t doing that. I kept trying and retrying. It kept kicking it back.
Finally, after about 36 hours of trying, it went in right.
I’m back!!!!!

I’ve been holding my breath wondering about your disappearance. *big breath*
I thought you might have ditched us for a Dylan forum or something.

Well I knew it was unlikely to be Neil Young, but Dylan was a possibility 🙂

The house failed to sell at auction so it’s on the open market now. Hopefully someone who doesn’t like the auction process will come along and make a sensible offer.
^ I’ll do a house-trade, I’ll give you a very nice, spacious 2 bedroom house, right next door to my house (no joke, we do own it, I’m not quite sure why ). The town is half-an-hour away from the next “big town” and we’ll throw in the furniture while we’re at (it needs to be updated a bit but what-the-hey).
My family will happily take a house in sunny Australia off your hands (we’ll make it into a winter retreat) and you’ll gain some nice Irish property.

I was assigned to teach library resources and search strategies to the chemistry literature class. I started off by saying that everything I know about chemistry I learned from The Beatles and then played Polythene Pam . The course professor smiled and told the students that the song sounds much better on better speakers.
Then I showed them @UnidentifiedFiendishThingy’s Name the Song post that had the chemical forumula for polythene. Then I pulled up @Joe’s song page for Polythene Pam . They thought it was gross that someone would eat polythene. At some point in the class, I asked them if they knew which Beatles song mentioned test tubes. Then I quoted the beginning of Maxwell’s Silver Hammer to them.
The class was so upbeat and had a really good vibe. I had a blast teaching it.

Aren’t properties in Ireland worth about €50 each since the crash? I’ll throw in a tenner; maybe we can realise the Beatles Bible house dream.
But @trcanberra, come back to Wales! We need more Beatles fans here

Ouch Joe, you know you can get really nice apartments with a river view for €10,000 where I am, thank you very . Although we could get an alright house out in the country for €30,000 if we ever want to fulfil the BB House. We might get some land thrown in for our bee hives as well. The only problem is jobs, depending on what you’re skilled in. I can’t remember everybody’s jobs but IT-experts, health carers (particularly nurses), chemists, manufactures, trades-people and multilingualists (especially Dutch-speakers for some reason) are welcome, everybody else….meh .
The family are willing to part with the maison for around €90,000 trcanberra seeing as it is so central (and you get a lovely garden, shed and reasonably-spacious garage). I was actually telling mam about this the other day and she just said “The house is not yours to give away ASJ”, “but mam, think of a house in Canberra”, “no ASJ”….
Trcanberra you wouldn’t like the house we own across the road would you (No I don’t know why we own so many houses either, blame the property-bubble, least we didn’t buy apartments in Bulgaria like everyone else ).
Ah those were the days and we’re going to make the same mistakes as well what all big jobs being located in Dublin, there being a massive housing and lack-of-space -problem in Dublin and house prices rising >.>

Well, I survived! And
My laptop’s still broke, so I’m nabbing Silly Mum’s. I’ve got a brilliant excuse, though– class forum.
Anyways, we attempted to go camping three days ago, but then it began to rain as soon as we arrived, and continued to do so steadily, with no sign of letting up. We had not really prepared for the rain, and then it turned out we had to move camp because our site was taken, and so… it was a wet, miserable, catastrophic mess.
T’was beautiful country though, the mists of the rain clouds drifting past mountain-tops just beginning to be gently coloured for fall… if any of y’all ever come by North Carolina, visit the Blue Ridge Mountains.
(See how fast I can switch dialects? T’is dreadful, innit? )
