HELLO.I’ve been back since Monday, but haven’t really found the time until now to get on the forum. Budapest was great! I had a wonderful time and have seen and done so much. Our appartment was in a very good spot, right in the center but it was so crappy. We expected 3 rooms, but there was only one bedroom for the 7 of us. 6 beds of which 5 beds for one and one bed for two. Luckily 2 of our group are a couple, so they could take the big bed, and fell through the bed after a few days! We checked our beds and saw our slatted bases of the beds were just taped together. Cheap stuff. We also couldn’t cook or do the laundry because there was fungus in the machines. We laughed it off by saying ”oh well, 5 euros”, which kind of became our catchphrase every time something bad happened or something broke, even outside the hotel. Despite that, I still had a great time, and everything went very smooth. I love how everything is very cheap in Hungary, and for the first time I felt very rich. Of course this meant we could go to pretty good restaurants too, which was great!
My liver must hate me though. I’ve never had so much alcohol in such a short period in my life. We had investigated beforehand and found out the water is drinkable, but soon learned it tasts like chlorine, so we bought bottles of water. Unfortunately we ran out of them one morning and I had to drink fecking apple cider with my breakfast. Felt like a downright alcoholic. Oh well.
I will try to upload a few pictures soon! We went to the citadel, which is a point on a mountain from which you have a lovely view over the whole city. It was beautiful at night, and I later returned during the day as well, which was still beautiful.
Wow sounds like you had a really great time there
I have been really busy lately hence my absence from the forum. My school gives so much summer homework and I only have like 5 days left to complete it And on top of all of that my schedule is messed up too for this year again. They decided that it would be a great idea to make the AP Physics 2 classes and the AP French classes at the same time even though I and about half of the French class had requested both. So now i have to see if our french teacher will let those of us who are taking physics get in a different period and work in the back of the classroom. If not I have to take AP Environmental Science which I don’t want to take and has like one of the largest workloads. Oh well.

My whole body clock is completely screwed and im eternally tired. I went to bed last night at 1/4 to 9 as i had woken up at 6 in the morning involuntarily. And this morning i’m awake again at 6am. I normally wake up at the earliest 9am and go to bed about 1am if not far later.
Feckin’ work training and having to get up at 7am for a whole damn week. I know how the Beatles must have felt when making films and having early mornings.
What the hell are you meant to do at 6am on a Sunday? I dont have sheep to wash or cows to milk or chickens to feed. Whoever made such a pointless time in the first place should be sacked!!!

I was just having a nice relaxing cappuccino at the local Coffee Club (a decent enough franchise chain) and chatting with @HongKongLady on video Skype. My X snuck up behind, surprised me something shocking, and commandeered the headset for a few minutes; then had an “interesting” (in the Chinese sense) conversation with HKL!!
My son said my X was only pretending to be pleasant; I think he’s a great judge of character. Seems she was around picking up some things while I was out and he told her where I was – I was thinking at the time that it was a little TOO coincidental 🙂

7 am? Lucky! If I have college at 8.30 I have to get up at 6. My internship is from 8.00 to 17.00 so I will have to get up at 6 again.
My body clock is still a bit screwed up from Budapest. We went to bed at 3 am at the earliest and woke up at 11 am at the earliest, and usually I go to bed at 12-1 am and wake up between 8.30 and 10 if I’m free from college.
I don’t understand people who wake up at 3 in the afternoon. Like wtf, how can you waste a day like that?

3pm is too late for me but i’d happily get up around 11am if there was no reason to arise. I’m a night person and the idea of going to bed at 10pm seems the waste of an evening. My reaction to early mornings are “what on earth are you meant to do?” but then i’m almost dead at that time and doing anything is not an option.
Should add that i was up at 7am and out the house at 7:15am. I get ready at night (baar washing and dreshing) as then its sleeping in till late as possible.

Almost 2am I can’t sleep playing candy crash soda on my phone,
@HongKongLady: Are you playing it because you couldn’t sleep or you couldn’t sleep because you are playing it?
Or perhaps a bit of both if it happened in that order? 🙂

Tomorrow is D-Day lads, a.k.a results day.
Surprisingly I’m quite calm, I think I’ll watch a Harry Potter movie tonight and then try and get to sleep but I can feel the anticipation >.>
Results are at the government education centre in Athlone (in the Midlands) right now and they’ll be sent through the Post sometime this evening. They’ll arrive in my town at around 7am where they’ll be collected the principal/vice-principal. The P/VP will bring them back to the school and will look through everyone’s results and maybe tot up the points (I’ll explain this later on in the post). The P/VP will then put them in an envelope, write our names on them and then we’re allowed to collect them from 9am onwards.
Now I amn’t going to collect mine until past 11am because I don’t want to be around everyone else while they get theirs because I don’t want people who I never said a single word to during my 5 years in school saying “oh what did you get?”, it’s none of your damn business what I got .
Now I’ll explain the points system. So I did 7 subjects, English, Irish, French, German, Business and Geography- at higher level and maths at ordinary level. I am awarded points based on my best 6 so we can cancel out maths being in my top 6. The more points you have the better you did. The highest points I can get is 600 but it is pretty much impossible that I will get 600.
Points for higher level subjects go from 100 (getting the best grade an A1 (90%+) to 45 (just passing the exam, 40%-44%). Here is how they are laid out*
My number 1 degree choice is Commerce & German in Galway, to get that I need at least 470 points (2 B3’s and 4 B2’s). My second choice is Commerce at the same university where I need around 380 points, I can transfer into C&G in 2nd year with this course so that’s all fine and dandy. Note that points for courses can rise if the demand for them is high so my C&G course could easily go to 500 points this year (it probably won’t though as less people are doing German and are instead doing Spanish). Same as my Commerce could jump to 430 points but I won’t know until my college offers come out on Monday.
I think that’s all I have to say on it but yeah ewww results

At times like this, I’m always reminded of Magic Johnson, who was told before he took his SAT test that he would get 15 points just for writing his name on the form. He said “I put my name down five times!”
