You may remember me mentioning previously that I broke my ipod in December and that my dad was going to take it apart and put it back together with a replacement hard drive at some point (I’m pretty sure I mentioned it). Â Well, he finally did it today. Â Right now, I’m trying to sync my songs in, but it’s taking a long time, because I have more than 11,000 of them. Also, I’m going to Arkansas for a week tomorrow to visit my aunt, uncle, and cousin, so I may not be around as much.
Nice work from your dad @Necko . My son has had a headphone jack broken off in his iPod for a while and we can’t work out how to pull it apart and get it back together again without wrecking it – despite looking at lots of “how-to” videos on the net.
Hope you have a nice trip – I have only heard of the Ozarks in that part of the world but I’m sure there is more to the state than that.

I’m stressed and worried out of my mind…
In a few hours I’ll be leaving forever. It’s So Hard to believe. I’m starting to feel a bit sick.
I’m mostly worried about my cat, how she’ll cope with the long journey.
Ugh, it all seems unreal.

So what kind of phone did you buy? How do you like it so far?ÂIt’s a Samsung Galaxy 4! Liking it fine, but I’m still paranoid about losing it/dropping it down a sewer/getting caught in the rain…
Get a nice solid protective case – it’s amazing the pounding they can take in those things and still function.
And don’t operate it over any open sewersÂ
That could possibly be the best advice ever given in this Forum – masterful in its simplicity.Â
@Beatleva – we felt the same way when we moved 2,000+ miles away from home…26 years ago. Trust me, it gets easier. You seem like a very bright and level headed person. I am sure you will make this work. Having your cat with you will help.Â

Part packed – one week to departure 🙂
Why are you part packed when you have one week to departure? I’m happy if I know where the empty case is 1 day before departure.

I have a couple of recurring nightmares which I may have mentioned in the ‘Dreams’ thread. One involves spiders; the other involves the taxi arriving at 6.00am and I haven’t packed and the plane leaves at 8. I try to minimize the risk of said dream recurring by being at least partly packed way too early.

What is a “POINK”? Remember this is a family forum so keep the answer clean?Â

My dear old grandma will turn 86 tomorrow. A few months ago, we would not have expected that. I’m glad she’s still around us. Everyone says this will probably be her last birthday, but I remain optimistic. I will help her to celebrate it as if it’ll be her last though
Hmm what else..oh yeah. I’ve got my last exam of this schoolyear on Thursday, Law *rolls eyes* My favourite subject, hurrah. And I finally chose an internship out of the three that wanted me as an intern. I’m going to work at a school that provides special education. The kids have different learning disabilities, like different forms of autism, a below average IQ, etc. So that will be interesting. I won’t get money for this one, and I would get for the other two, but this is what I want to do, and I get the weekends and holidays off. I mean, you all know how much I love ChristmasI think all of this is more important than money. I’m really looking forward to this internship.Â
Â
A thing I’m not looking forward to is the heatwave that’s expected this week

Send many birthday greeting to your grandma from the forum. Give her the full shebang, she deserves it after all that has gone on.
All the best in your law exam, tho we know you will ace it @Linde. History tells us so. And congratulations on selecting the intern route, is always a hard decision when trying to figure out which way to go. Enjoy your holidays when they come about before you go back.

I’m back at work after a two-week break. We went to southern Spain, where the sun was shining, the beaches were beautiful and the sea was crystal clear. We gave up on city breaks because they’re too much effort with the kids, so decided to do as little as possible this time. It was great.
Thanks obviously to the mods for being brilliant and not minding me being offline for much of the time. Catching up on emails and forum posts now.

Aaaahhhhh, now I get it. Kind of like the fight scenes in the old Batman TV series.
BAM!! KAPOW!! POINK!!
Makes sense – thanks for clearing that up. Please don’t poink him too hard. We all think very highly of him.
