Offline I just got back from the doctor. Now that I’m back, I’m more comfortable about talking about what was happening. I was having chest pains, pain in the upper abdomen, and occasional shortness of breath. According to the doctor, my heart rate was normal, my blood pressure was normal, and my breathing sounded normal. The doctor concluded that I was having digestive problems brought on by heavy alcohol use. He said that I should lay off the booze for at least two weeks and come back if I didn’t feel back to normal by then. In other words, I won’t be visiting Sandi on the Rainbow Bridge quite yet.

My then 5 yr old son thought that……..We were in the car passing a pond and he asked “Are there sharks in there?”
“No” I said, “Sharks like salt water they live in the sea. They need large areas to swim in. If they stop swimming they can die The pond is fresh water and too small for sharks” Dad’s like to give a full answer. I was about to go on saying, “you can get fresh water sharks, but…….”And he interrupted me….
“You get grapes in the sea”
“What?”
“You get grapes in the sea……” Matter of fact expression in his voice.
I turned the car radio down to be sure I was catching it right……..”Sorry, what did you say?”
“You get grapes in the sea”……exasperation with me edging into his voice.
I was flummoxed for a moment…..and then had the answer.
“Do you mean currents James?”
“Duh” Rolling his eyes…..”Yes currants”

I’ve just been insanely busy…work is going great but soooo busy. Got a week-long trip to San Francisco for the job coming up in two weeks. The kids are out of school for the summer so my wife is keeping them busy, and nights are spent trying to get stuff done around the house, spend family time, get writing or music stuff done, exercising, and oh yeah, if I can fit it in, sleeping 🙂

Oh yeah, I’ve been to SF a bunch…my wife has family in Sacramento and we’ve gone to visit them loads of times and always make trips to SF. I last went in 2009 for a conference…my current company has a sister R&D facility out there so I’ll be spending a week out there working and meeting with some folks I need to work with in the future. Should be fun, but every time I visit the west coast I’m so glad to come back home…I’m an east coast boy for life!

Read, read, read, go to Spain, read, go to my Granddad’s house, read, watch TV, do my driver’s theory test, read, hopefully get a provisional driving licence, read.
On Wednesday, August 12th (I think), I ‘ll get my results. Then on the following Monday, I’ll get my college offers. If I get either Commerce & German or Commerce, I’m going sending an email to them postponing my entry to uni for a year. In September, I’ll start a Level 5 business course at home and do a Level 7 diploma in French on Wednesday evenings at Uni.
