A brief recap of the story so far for those who came in late:
I have been separated for the last 14 months from my wife of 27 years (referred to in these parts as my STBE; variously my soon-to-be-ex or my soon-to-be-ex-wife: take your pick). During this time we had 3 great kids; two daughters (since moved out) and a teenage son who is still at home with me.In Facebook terms I am ‘in a relationship’ with the delightful HKL (@HongKongLady) whom you have most likely met in these pages – we are unfortunately currently separated by far too many miles (kilometers) of ocean.
My divorce court hearing is tomorrow morning (the 15th) at 11.00am.
Whatever the outcome I’m hoping I am close to the end of another stage of life’s journey and that the voyage ahead will be better still.
I’m nervous! Should I ran away? There’s anyone can rescue me? 🙂

I just had my annual appraisal at work. It went fine. I get on well with my line manager – she’s like me: introverted, direct, no fan of stress, and with little time for corporate bullshit, of which there is a lot here. A definite ally.
I told her about this site, which she had no idea about. “How do you get the time to do that?” Oh, if only. We ended up discussing long-term escape plans rather than work!

Offline I took the AP World History exam today guys. I was there for 4 1/2 hours. The proctors this time were seriously bad. One person couldn’t really read that well and hey were really mean. I think I did well.
I wish I could have been online more, it seems I missed a lot. Now that the big exams are over I should be on more often.

Offline So yes, the court proceedings are over – not without one or two heart-stopping procedural problems – but I was carried along by the positive energy from here and from HK.
The STBE is now the E (with thanks to @Ahhh Girl for the designation and good vibes).
It’s a bit hard to get the old brain around being unmarried for the first time in 28 years or so.
I just hope that if HKL did run away she hasn’t gone too far 🙂
As an aside I went along a bit early to get a feel for the process and watched a few of the other cases; it’s amazing the tangled knots some people get their lives into. And even though Canberra is a bit of a sleepy little city still (apart from being voted best place in the world to live by the OECD yet again) there was a divorce case being heard every 3 minutes!! Thank goodness for online filing or the backlog would be longer than the 6 weeks or so I waited.

Offline I hope you did well on the exam despite the proctors, @UnidentifiedFiendishThingy. I remember taking the biology exam while in high school. I did well enough to get 3 hours of college credit for it.

Offline Today is May 15th. I’ve been a Beatles Bibler for a whole year. I guess it’s the closest thing to a hobby I have. But reading and posting take time; I wonder if I couldn’t/shoudn’t have used all the time I’ve spent on the Beatles Bible doing something more creative, or working towards my goals. In any case, I’ve enjoyed being here.
