I just got my drivers’ learners’ permit for the second time… at the ripe old age of twenty-three.
I’ve ordered mine – tho if you are “at the ripe old age of twenty-three” then i will be rotting at the back of the fridge.

The football team my dad supported along with myself held a minutes silence for him this afternoon. A wonderful gesture. They also placed a notice of his passing in their match programme.
Makes me proud to support them.

I’m trying to sing ‘If I Fell ‘ in harmony with Little Girl. She’s not very reliable, but hey, most six-year-olds can’t sing harmony at all.

I saw this sign in a shop in Heathrow airport and thought of you and the health troubles you have been having, @Matt Busby. I hope you get well soon.
Here I had no idea I had even been knighted! However, some research uncovers the fact that I hold a CBE, but only GBE & K/DBE are entitled to call themselves “Sir” or “Dame”. Whatever… Thanks for the thoughts AG and I am feeling tons better – yesterday I drove almost 2 hours each way to have dinner with my son, I wasn’t that well recovered before I went back into hospital lol.

I very randomly and very suddenly acquired a job today. As a pot washer. In a pub.I have never been so happy to smell of dirty dishwater.
I started as a dishwasher in a seafood restaraunt at 18. By 23 I was an accomplished chef, having worked lead and sous chef dinners at a couple pretty fancy places and even made a chef’s salad for V.P. George Bush in 1983. Graduated with a 2 year degree in hotel & restaurant management…and decided I wanted to do something else with my life so promptly dove into comp sci…the point being, you can go quite a ways starting as a pot washer in a pub, I could have had a good career as a chef/owner/manager if I’d pursued it. Just grab the opportunities…

I got a haircut this morning, its at its shortest length since i was born.
How do you sleep (at night) with it that short?
Q: “I’d like to ask you all a personal question about your hair. How can you sleep at night with it that long?”
JOHN: “Well, when you’re asleep you don’t notice.”
(laughter)
PAUL: “True, true. Ha! That told him.”
GEORGE: “How do you sleep with your arms and your legs still attached? It’s the same.”
RINGO: “You get used to it.”
GEORGE: “Maybe that’s why we’ve been up every night.”
PAUL: “Yeah, maybe THAT’S why we have parties. That’s it. We can’t sleep with this long hair.”
(chuckles from reporters)
PAUL: “Great!”
JOHN: “People have only had short hair since the world war. So they’ve been sleeping for all those thousands of years with long hair.”
PAUL: “It’s not a problem, I tell ya. It’s just as much a problem as having short hair, which to you seems like normal.”
JOHN: “It’s more of a problem having short hair, having to keep it short.”

Same as how i sleep with it longer. My quality of sleep isnt determined by my length of hair – and nor is my strength.

For the past week or so, I’d been in a bit of a funk. Not depression as I’m really not prone to that, but just a general disinterest in many things. I haven’t been on here much, haven’t listened to music, read a book, watched baseball games or done much that I usually enjoy.
Then, all of a sudden the fog lifted last night. Me & the Missus went out to the local watering hole for a sandwich and a couple of “tall & frosties”. While sitting at the bar, the original Smokey Robinson version of ‘You Really Got A Hold On Me ’ played – my favorite song the Fabs cover. That sent me into a state of joy. After we’d finished and went home, I could not wait to break out the iPod and listen to some Beatles – The Beatles / Disc 2 in case you were wondering.
Now, the weather is warming up, the birds are singing, the Yankees are in first place and I feel like posting again. Yay Smokey. Yay Beatles.
