Many people believe in hard work; I believe in the Muse that descends upon us and touches us with her delicate hands. I had been painting and writing a lot, but not playing the guitar so much; well, I’ve just composed a song, with lyrics and all –and it only took me an hour. Is it going to be the next “Stairway to Heaven”? Hardly. But it’s a very nice tune, and the lyrics aren’t bad. So that’s what I have to share with you. Oudis.
Great songs do tend to come pretty quickly. It’s strange.
Are you going to be recording it, Oudis?

Hey, “Werewolves Of London” was supposedly written in about fifteen minutes, so…

Funny you should mention that. I’m currently rereading Lennon Remembers. In an early section of the interview, John was talking about his first post-Beatles album and preferred songs that were finished in just a few takes. In the same section, he said he hated laying down backing tracks first in the Beatles days and then overdubbing lyrics after. He said they sounded like dead recordings and the ones that were only a few takes recorded straight through sounded best.

Thanks for your question @mr-kite. Since I composed it late at night and I was sleepy, I recorded it so that I wouldn’t forget it with a free program I downloaded from the Net: MP3myMP3, using the microphone I use for Skype. Just me strumming the guitar and singing. I have a nice PC with a very expensive sound card, a wonderful Yamaha interface and several microphones for different purposes but I still haven’t had the time to set up my homerecording studio (in fact a few months ago I didn’t even have the furniture to put the equipment on). That’s one of the things I plan to do this year, but as I said for the past six months I have been focusing on writing short stories and painting. I just go with the flow, you know.

Great, @Oudis! I’m trying to write songs myself. Let me know if you have a spare muse I can borrow. *x-large Georgewink*
I have a little challenge with myself to sing “Oh! Darling ” all the way through, successfully. I had a bash just now while making supper, and I very nearly…. (wait for it)….
Succeeded!!!!

You should post inappropriate things and go on eBay with a credit card in hand!

That’s all part of the fun, y’see. To all: Make sure you quote all the posters who have Irishy names because they’re here today, gone tomorrow.

Whereas here we had an amazing morning storm – a lighning strike hit a tree a few yards/metres down the road and just about knocked me out of bed with the light, sound and vibration.
Oh, such nice elbows @HongKongLady has – so that’s what she looks like without her astronaut suit on

Will you be wearing a party hat, have celebratory music on in the background and have a party popper beside you to left off after you have submitted the forms or will you just go out and tear up the city afterwards?
