@Linde I’m very sorry to hear about your grandma. Wishing you the best.

Rosie had a second cast put on earlier this week, it’s in a fetching shade of red (no pics, sorry). Her arm is about 20% wonky still but they’re not too worried at this stage (apparently 25-30% is where they consider operating). We’re hoping it’ll all be OK.

@Ron Nasty said
Definitely a little cutie, @Joe! I’m already picturing you and a shotgun when she reaches her teens! Hope her arm isn’t causing too much discomfort (for her and for you and Ellie).

Unfortunately, she’s in the way of the Star Wars box and I can’t tell what it is. What’s in the Star Wars box, Joe?

It’s this: http://www.entertainmentearth……iorama.asp

A company in (I think) Leicester made them very briefly in the early noughties, Pride Displays, before going bust. I think they did an Empire Strikes Back diorama too. They were made to look like vintage SW products and Lucasfilm gave them permission.

I have some old Star Wars figures from my childhood which I let Ted play with. This happened to Artoo last night. Poor Artoo :(

Well, AG may say it is now a solo trip, but it seems I will be joining her for London and Liverpool if my failing health allows! I was always going to meet up with her at least a couple a days while they were in London, and now it seems I will spend more time with her than originally planned.

Ah Ron Nasty, you are truly having a bad couple of months surely the laws of the universe say you get a couple of good months now?

I do really hope April is included in those good months for your health and well-being. I’m not very good at “alone” so I do hope you can show me around London, Liverpool, and various other locations.

@fabfouremily is going to be in Liverpool one of the days. And I have other folks lined up to see in Liverpool and Glasgow. …and of course there’s laundry day at Joe’s. I will be happy camper being surrounded by so many wonderful people.

Hopefully @HeyTrud will be able to make the trip one of these days. It just didn’t work out for her this time around.

The train from Liverpool to Glasgow makes a stop at Carlisle. I’m thinking about hopping off and spending two nights there. I’m sure I can figure out how to use public transport to get around.

@trcanberra, did you enjoy you visit there?

Yes we did indeed. The wall is not as spectacular as what I see in photos of the one in China, it is a lot lower in most places, but it is still amazing to stand on it and see it snaking across the country. I would recommend going to one of the forts if you can manage as there are usually interesting displays and a lot more old ruined foundations and building sections to explore.

The fort we went to is called Housesteads (Vercovicium in Roman times), I think it is about 40km from Carlisle. Birdoswald is also supposed to be interesting but I haven’t seen it – from the maps it looks pretty close to where you will be getting off the train.

A nice thought @Zig – HK lady is unwell so I was up until midnight trying to cheer her up. I was worried about her so I woke up at 5.00am only to find a plaintive message on my phone so I sent her my best wishes for a speedy recovery (2am there and she was too sick to sleep).

So yes, I wish everyone who has sick friends or relatives a speedy recovery for all concerned.

Ha ha @Ahhh Girl – Miss HK accuses me of acting that way now and again. Then earlier this week I noticed she was starting to regress to her teen years on occasion as well.

Watch out kids – the oldies here can lose their marbles with the best of them :)

Have fun on the trip @Ahhh Girl and who else would go!

My grandma’s got gall bladder inflammation. That’s why her stomach was hurting and why she was so sick and didn’t have any appetite. They found out a few days ago and she’s now in the hospital. They will operate her if the gall bladder has calmed down a bit. But there’s a huge risk attached to that. They explained to us that a large percentage doesn’t come out of it well, another large percentage ends up being well, how do you call it when you’re not able to do a lot anymore and you’re drooling and need help with everything? Only a small part comes out of it alright, and the risk is high with her age (she’s approaching 86). We are very scared. I actually hope it will take a long time before she will get operated. This man who was lying next to her in the room had had pain in his stomach for 30 years, and they only found out yesterday that he had gall bladder inflammation as well. THIRTY YEARS! What an idiotic hospital.ahdn_paul_01

At the moment she’s very stable and alright though. Got her appetite back and even had a pancake today! I remain optimistic.

I had my evaluation moment at my internship last Wednesday. That means me and my mentor have a conversation about how I’m doing at my internship. To prepare for it I have to make a report with how I’m doing and what I’ve done to achieve my goals, and how everything has influenced my learning process and what goals I’ll be working on now. A lot of work, really. But it went really well. She told me to keep going like I’m doing now, because I had already learned a lot since the start evaluation, and she was confident I would do well the rest of the year. That was nice to hear.

And this afternoon I took my mom out for a high tea, to take her mind off things. That was enjoyable for both of us. Tomorrow I’ll meet up with some friends. Trying to get as much distraction as I can, and it’s going very well.

Better news on all fronts, @Linde. Congrats on the evaluation – fingers crossed for your grandmother.

I had my performance evaluation today and I was quite pleased with it. A year ago, I started a new job in a new state with the same company and things are going very well. A nice wage bump should be coming next month. Woo-hoo!

Glad your grandma can at least eat something, Linde, and thanks for the good wishes for the trip. I am having a blast planning it. I know I will enjoy every moment of it.

Congrats on the good job eval, Zig. I hope they heart and value you as much as we do.

What with your bonus @Zig i think you should buy your three favourite mods a gift each. I’d like this in no way utterly pointless and massively overpriced set of 4 plush Beatles retailing at the incredibly generous price of £79.99.

Let’s see, if we are putting in our wish list in case Zig gets his wage bump…a nice donation to the Statue for Eppy campaign in honor of me would be great.
