Yep, it was Officially ™ legalized here in the Grand Ole USA last year (about smeggin’ time). If I were emperor of the world, I’d just go ahead and make it legal everywhere.

^^You already have my vote, @Beatlebug! I presume there will also be an international Beatles day?!
On a different note, the G 20 summit draws nearer and nearer and you can already feel the tension over here. I really hope it won’t end in a catastrophe and that there will be progress in the discussion concerning climate change and refugees!

Wow. I could have sworn that it happened much longer ago than that. I could have sworn that it happened when I was still in college (I graduated in Dec. 2014), but it looks like I’m wrong (I looked it up) and it passed in 2015. Where does the time go?

Whilst England jumps up and down at beating Scotland 6-0 tonight in the Women’s European Championship most in Scotland really don’t care. It’s the equivalent of losing by 14 and a half points in the World Penny Pushing Championships.

That does come across as rather demeaning towards female football.
I don’t think the female game is any less demanding of its players than the male game.

Look into the interest levels in Scotland, they were not that high to begin with and a number of our better players are injured and so do not feature it’s lower. The men’s game has also had a large influence on this as we are fed up with how uninspiring it all is.
My comment was also a note on the once again over the top reactions by the English media. Even before the game kicked off tonight they had England in the final totally demeaning all the other countries.

I am sure the media in many other countries are doing exactly the same.
I know both the Germans and French are.
No team goes into a competition already writing off their chances.
That the Scottish don’t have any/much interest does not stop it being one of the major sporting competitions in the world, which the World Penny Pushing Championships definitely isn’t.

There is a major difference between writing nations off and talking up your own hopes. The English media have a lasting history of basically writing their name on the trophy and talking up their own players as world legends whilst lazily dismissing other countries and players as diddies.
Here is one reminder of such an instance recently, however, i also remember the games v Italy, Costa Rica and Uruguay where the same was done.
I clearly wrote my comment from the view of a Scot.

I’m not getting involved in a discussion over Women’s football as any criticism, whether justified or not, is immediately met with claims of being sexist. The odds of having a level headed discussion are almost non-existant.

I don’t think you’re sexist, @meanmistermustard, just that it was an ill-thought-through comment.
Were you to have made similar comments about the male team and the competitions they are a part of in the past, it would’ve passed me by. There you usually criticise the state of Scottish football and criticise the team.
I do know though, other countries are as biased in talking up their teams as the British media. I wonder what the Icelandic commentary was like on that game?

USA women’s team is better than the Men’s soccer team, and I see them treated equally by the media, especially now that they are fighting for equal wages.
But I understand what mmm is saying and have no problem with it. The Atlanta Hawks are much more important to me than the Dream (the WNBA team) despite the Dream competing for a national championship in multiple years recently. Its a different league, and it isn’t one that I care about.

So I can make the same comment about the men’s game and it’s not an issue but if it is about the women’s it is?
England before the Iceland game had disregarded Iceland as a threat, the game was won before England went onto the pitch. Are you suggesting Iceland had totally written off England?

No, you misunderstand my point, @meanmistermustard. What I was saying was that had you made similar comments about the men’s game in the past, then such a comment about the female game would’ve passed me by.
Had you previously compared the men’s game to something like the obscure and eccentric little contest held in Devon pub, which when it does make the news usually does is as the humorous “And finally…” story, the comment about the women’s game would’ve not have appeared as unusual.
It stuck out because, with the men’s game and the Scottish team’s performance, you’re usually disparaging about the state of the game in Scotland and the players and management. In this instance, you chose not to make any comment about the Scottish team’s performance, but instead appeared to dismiss the value of the Women’s European Championships.
You know, had you previously commented that competitions the men’s team were involved in were, I don’t know, as important as the World Tiddlywinks Championships, or the World Pub Skittles Championships, then comparing a competition the women’s team were involved in to having the value of the World Penny Pushing (Shove Ha’penny) Championships wouldn’t have struck me the way it did.
I’ve read lots of comments of yours about Scottish football, and this is the only comment I can think of where you demeaned the competition they were taking part in, rather than moan about the things wrong with the Scottish team and the state of Scottish football.

Has The Donald destroyed his Presidency today?
An interesting question, I think. His reaction to Charlottesville has been a total disgrace, and embarrassment, to any American with a brain.
First of all, on the night, he blamed “many sides” without condemning Neo-Nazis, White Supremacists, and the KKK. It was a statement that was attacked by both Republicans and Democrats. His daughter, Ivanka Trump, immediately condemned those groups on Twitter. One of her tweets he chose not to retweet.
Then, yesterday, 48 hours after the event, dragged back to the White House, he gripped the Presidential podium and read a statement that had obviously been written for him, rather than express his own views because they were politically damaging. And today, back in Trump Tower, he went back to saying that those who stood against racism were as much to blame as the racists.
Those against racism did not arrive in Charlottesville with guns, the racist scum did. None of those against racism set out to murder a large number of those with an opposing view, while a racist who lots of racist groups are attempting to disown committed a terrorist attack on the USA, hoping to kill many who disagreed with his fascist point of view.
There is no equivalence!
About the only person to defend his press conference today, calling it “brave and courageous,” was David Duke, former head of the KKK, who applauded The Donald’s defence of the “good people” who just wanted to exercise their First Amendment Rights to be racist f***s.
The Donald’s argument seems to be, if those against racism, exercising their first amendment rights, defending the idea that America is built on – “All men are created equal” – but has often ignored, are as bad as those who’d love a return to the days when they could lynch the uppity n*gg*r (sorry for any offence caused by the use of that word, it’s not a word I use, but I think it is in context here).
Is this the point where Republicans on the Hill start deserting him because his statements are too much against the groups that they need to get elected?

While i have a problem with the guy who rammed people with his car, i don’t have a problem with protest itself. Now before you call me a racist or a bigot, hear me out.
These people were protesting because a statue of confederate general Robert E. Lee was being removed, which i would be pretty pissed about myself if i were from one of those states and they have the 1st amendment right to protest and hold signs, so i don’t see anything with the people who peacefully protested the removal of the statue.
To be honest, after looking into it, i don’t see a problem with Trump’s claims. Only 1 of these people resorted to killing people, the rest of them were peacefully protesting and i think the anti-racists have to realize that just because 1 person takes something to an extreme doesn’t mean that everybody at the protest wants to return to the days where blacks were treated like dirt. Hell, the civil war wasn’t even started to end slavery but rather the union preventing the confederates from splitting from the union, hence the term civil war.
Maybe i missed something but from what I’ve read about the attacks, i don’t have a problem with the protest itself although i think we can all agree that the guy in the car did something wrong and should go to jail for his crimes.
If you're reading this, you are looking for something to do.
