A van has run into worshippers leaving Finsbury Park Mosque in North London at 00:20.
A number of people injured, a man arrested.
Initial fear has to be this was a right-wing terrorist attack.

I heard that there were 3 people in the van but only one was caught. What is the definition of a ‘potential terrorist’ attack as opposed to an actual one?
I'm like Necko only I'm a bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin and also everyone. Or is everyone me? Now I'm a confused bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin everyone who is definitely not @Joe. This has been true for 2016 & 2017 but I may have to get more specific in the future.

There is good reason to believe it was, however, it has not been fully proved it was so the police, government etc won’t commit to saying so so as not to put out incorrect information.

I am very saddened to hear of the death of Otto Warmbier because of the North Koreans.

It is very saddening, I feel for his family and everyone who knew him. God knows what happened to him over there but the North Koreans are clearly talking rubbish.
I hope things seriously change in that country.

Would need a major regime overhaul as Kim is quite willing and happy to have anyone who even blinks wrongly in his direction killed. One hell of a scary country.
Yep that’s true unfortunately. No idea how change will happen but I hope it does soon.
I’m sure the Kim dynasty will crumble one day…

If we can kill Osama Bin Laden by invading his house and killing everyone in there who we consider a threat, then I think we can do the same thing here. No one likes Kim, so we mind as well get a group of people to invade his house and kill everyone adult who is in the house, including Kim himself. It’s not like North Koreans like him and will rebel and try to kill innocent Americans themselves if we do so.
But then again, this isn’t like some kid punching you at the playground so you hit him back, going to war shows that you get pissed off easily and that you are willing to kill people who are only there because they’re trying to protect themselves, war is revenge and as fun as it is to get revenge on people, is killing them the right way to solve things, we can do something else.
But then again, we’d only be killing Kim and the other adults in the building and unlike Osama, there’s not a lot of people to rebel if we did kill him and his family, these are hard choices.

Hopefully the death of Kim can result in a fundamental change in the structure of the country, but unfortunately, I fear there will be another dictator to take his place who would be crazier and angrier. Yet the loss of an American life caused by the horrible nature of that country is very sad.

Either of those options would lead to a major military confrontation with China.
There is no easy answer when it comes to North Korea, apart from continued pressure on China to do more.

The CIA had multiple attempts to do just that to Castro and constantly failed, and Cuba has always been a much more open country than North Korea.

Today, in passing, I heard some person on the radio (NPR or BBC) saying that China backing North Korea isn’t a “real” thing. It’s a bluff, hoax, whatever you want to call it. I haven’t had time to follow up. Any thoughts/insight?

That would be great if that were the case because America could in theory team up with China instead of going against them, similar to how the USA and USSR worked together during World War II to defeat Hitler, although the US was mainly in there to get back at the Japanese.

Except that the North Korean government have succeeded in brainwashing the citizens to make them think that North Korea is viewed as an amazing country around the world, and that Kim Jong-Un is the best leader a country could possibly hope for. And well over 70% (I think it’s actually almost 90%) of the population believe him. So they’d actually rebel against anyone trying to kill their beloved leader.

I haven’t heard that China backs North Korea directly, I always thought the issue was their leniency with them. I’ll need to look into this most more, as it’s probably the most unstable and potentially explosive conflict aside from the problems in the middle east. What is even worse is how China and Japan can’t get along either. Throw Russia into the equation, it seems like a ticking time bomb. Really scary, but hopefully it isn’t as bad as people make it seem. I honestly don’t know for sure, but what I do know is that North Korea is horrible.
