I live about an hour away (maybe a bit less) from where the attacks took place. How on earth people can live knowing that they’ve not only killed people, but innocent children too, is beyond me. I can’t even begin to think of what those poor families are going through.

I hate when things like these happen, if we add more security, we are taking away part of our freedom.
You can have as much security as you want and it won’t stop some determined individual getting thru and carrying out such atrocities.
We have no idea how many terrorist attacks are stopped but it will be a lot.

I don’t know if this is true in real life but in The Simpsons, Chief Wiggum says that’s it’s legal to shoot anybody who breaks into your house unless if you invite them over, maybe these terrorists will break into someone’s house and get shot dead.

It is a shame that US authorities are choosing to leak details of a live investigation ahead of our revealing those details ourselves. Whoever it is is damaging the trust between the UK and US, and the future sharing of such sensitive information.
Someone in the US authorities leaked it was suicide bomber while the UK was still withholding sensitive information, then leaked it was a nail bomb, and then – while the UK were withholding his name to allow pursuit of his accomplices without them being alerted – released his name.
Today the New York Times has published crime scene photographs of the remains bomb.
At the moment US authorities are undermining a major terrorist hunt going on here. It is disgraceful and can do nothing but undermine our future security co-operation.

Offline Considering we have a president who acts like a 10 year old, anything’s possible. As for whether or not this will strain the relationship between the US and the UK, I doubt it and even so, we will get along eventually, the fact that you Englishmen aren’t still pissed off that we became our own country and you lost a territory is proof.

Offline Our National Security Council has already said such leaks are undermining the investigation, @Dark Overlord. Our Home Secretary has complained to her opposite number in the US, and was assured there would be no more leaks (followed by the leaking of the crime scene photos – photos that wouldn’t be realised in this country until after any trial of accomplices, if then). The Mayor of Manchester has complained to the US Ambassador. The Association of Chief Police Officers has also condemned it as harming our investigation.
Why would we continue to share information we want kept secret in an ongoing operation if we know, sharing it with the US, sees that confidential information on the front pages of US papers?
There is no doubt that serious damage is being done to the security relationship between the UK and US. I have little doubt that we are now sharing much less of the progress in the case right now.

Offline The US should stop leaking that stuff, it’s one thing for them to secretly view it themselves but they’re really going to piss off the UK government if they continue to do this. Regardless, although I believe that the US and UK government may hate each other after this affair, I doubt US and UK citizens will. Think about it, in this day of age, we are able to socialize with people all around the world and we can believe in peace. For example, if the internet was around during World War II, we wouldn’t be insulting Martha and making her feel sad just because she’s from Germany and at the same time, she wouldn’t be saying Heil Hitler and Jews suck. I believe that if we believe in peace and love instead of violence and war just like John Lennon , we can be happier and more accepting people, even if we’re talking to people who are in a war against our country, that’s what’s so great about the internet and online forums.

Offline The identity of the bomber was first made public by CBS and NBC, followed by Reuters – who cited their source as “three US officials”.
The BBC have learnt that Manchester Police have stopped sharing information about their investigation with the US.
As I said, whoever these officials are, they have damaged UK/US co-operation on sharing security information.

Of course not, the government may represent the people as far as legislature goes but individual citizens have a right to chat about the Beatles with whomever they please. We’re not at war — we’re just screwing up governmental relations.
Think about it, in this day of age, we are able to socialize with people all around the world and we can believe in peace. (…) we can be happier and more accepting people, even if we’re talking to people who are in a war against our country, that’s what’s so great about the internet and online forums.
Off topic, but you do have a point. It’s harder to fall into an ‘Us And Them’ way of thinking if you are chatting about shared interests with all kinds of people from everyplace.

Offline There is a system in place called Five Eyes which exists between Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States where intelligence information is shared so this will be the method the info was disseminated. How it then ended up with CNN etc is another story. Don’t worry Trump is going to investigate. He doesn’t like it when sensitive information gets blurted out.

Offline Donald Trump thinks like a 10 year old, you could even say that he’s the real kid president.
Anyways, if you are like me and believe that after you die, you are reborn again in the same time period that you were last born in, then once you are born again, Donald Trump will no longer be president and therefore we will actually have responsible adults running the country again and since I believe that each life is slightly different, there’s a possibility that in my next life, Donald Trump will never become president.
