I haven’t read the examples. Don’t plan to. I’m glad mmm read them so if anything needed saying about them, he could take care of it.

He seemed fine with them, he didn’t agree with them but he didn’t complain about them or request I change them so although they’re specific examples and not something generic like “if someone says something racist…”, meanmistermustard didn’t think they were offensive, probably because he understood that I was using them as examples, so I think I’m fine.

I do not mind saying that I find some of your examples of what should be allowed extremely offensive, @Dark Overlord, and mmm allowing them in context of this discussion says nothing about his feelings towards such attitudes. Were you to make any of those outside of the context of this conversation, I’m pretty sure mmm would have problems.
I found your examples offensive, and in certain cases, showing lazy racism.
I realise that’s something to be justified.
I am talking about your example using Martin Luther King, and connecting it to the Bronx – an area of New York that is historically known as an African-American area. You imply that people of colour would react badly to the offensive comment you suggest, I know that such language made publicly would get a hostile reaction virtually everywhere.
Shouting the same statement in Trafalgar Square in London would have you arrested for hate speech.
I remember you, or one of the alternate personalities, suggesting you should be able to throw racial comments at Barack Omaba.
Sorry, perfectly acceptable to disagree someone’s political views, but totally unacceptable to bring their their colour, race, religion, sexual orientation, or anything else into the arguement
You argue that such comments made publicly would receive a hostile reception, and that the anonymity of the internet allows such outrageous statements that you wouldn’t say out loud and take ownership of.
I say anyone who makes such statements on the internet to avoid saying it out loud because it could see them labelled and convicted as racist scum is a coward.
Anybody who believes, in my opinion, that the internet should be somewhere where they can show their bigoted views, while hiding them in public because they are unacceptable is an a*****e.
Own your opinions, stand behind them, but don’t ever argue people should be allowed to make offensive comments anonymously online that they wouldn’t make face-to-face.
To my mind, nothing more offensive than someone who pretends to wonderful in real life, but online, hiding behind a mask, reveal themselves as scum.
A statement that is unacceptable in real life should be just as objectionable on the internet.

I don’t like the language used but it all came in a spoiler with a pre-warning “remember that I am using these claims as examples and don’t want to offend anybody, so they will be in spoilers“. To read it after such a warning and then complain that the language used was offensive is not something I think is merited. I do ask that the language used is not quoted openly, this is one of the issues of such posts.
It has to be said however, @Dark Overlord, that if such language is used openly or more frequently on the forum mods do have permission to delete it and very probably will. Do not think to hide such terms beyond spoilers with disclaimers means we will turn a blind eye. Each post is judged on its own worth and we are mindful that a very wide range of users visit and read the forum.
I didn’t address the post contents personally as I thought almost all of it was total nonsense and I think it’s better at times to let such opinions stand for all to read and see the ludicrousy than hide through deletion. For example, if someone posts highly offensive terms about someone then don’t be surprised to find that if they found out and was in the mood they can do you for slander. You cannot go down the street and say it to their face without fallback so don’t go thinking it’s fine online claiming freedom of speech saves you.

He absolutely would and on a forum like this, it shouldn’t be allowed because this is a specialty forum dedicated to The Beatles, not some big social media giant like Facebook or Twitter where not everybody on the site has to see what you wrote. Also, I want to make this clear, I would never want to say these things myself, I just wouldn’t mind if someone else said them on social media (or in public) because I believe in the freedom of speech and as long as you’re not saying anything that could cause danger (such as yelling bomb in an airport), I believe you should have the legal right to say it.

It would in any area but especially in an area heavily populated with African Americans, such as the Bronx, where African Americans are willing to fight someone over a comment about such a nice person.

I was going to ask whether or not you guys had freedom of speech, but then found this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/…..exceptions
Damn, there’s a lot of limitations:
Making false statements (such as yelling bomb in an airport)
Obscenity (such as yelling f**k in public)
Child pornography (I don’t know why this would be consider free speech)
Offensive comments (also known as fighting words, although if you hit someone for saying one of these, it would probably be labeled as assault and not self defense and therefore illegal which means you would still get arrested)
Copyrighted speech (man do I hate copyright laws)
You mind as well take our freedom of speech away if you’re putting so many limitations on it.

Nice to know, it’s a good thing i put those comments in spoilers, you guys would probably be really pissed off if I didn’t.

I think your point on free speech could have been made in a much more appropriate way. I for one am completely capable of coming up with examples of offensive language in my head, so it is unnecessary to read it on this forum. With that being said, virtually nothing offends me, especially over the internet. Still, I think its quite obvious that something like that should not be posted again.
In other news, Trump came into office looking like Reagan with his old age, celebrity background, and make America great again hats. But now he is starting to seem more and more like Nixon each day. The goddamn two party system got this dumbass elected in the first place.

Trump got in because he appealed to the hardline “America rules” community that wanted to put their own country above others, that he is different from all the other politicians, many underestimated him and he was the alternative to Hillary who was viewed as corrupt, a corporate suit and deeply untrustable.
The problem Trump has is that he is finding you cannot do anything you want as President and get away with it or push it through. It is pleasing to see so many of his stupid ideas getting blocked and I am surprised he hasn’t caused a major row on his first Tour yet, wouldn’t surprised me if little jolts of electricity are sent thru his body every time one of them think he looks like he’s about to say something he shouldn’t.
In the UK it looks like we are stuck with Theresa May as Labour have promised to give us everything we ever wanted and a pony on top if we vote for the guy most of Labour don’t want to PM to be PM.

To start, during the election, Hillary was facing legal trouble because she was using her personal email account for communicating rather than the one supplied to her by the government.

Also, many people including myself believe Hillary cheated and she’s a feminist and very politically correct and I don’t want someone with all of those traits running our country.

Manchester Police are now confirming some sort of explosion, and several fatalities.
It is not known if this was a terrorist attack, and conclusions should not be jumped to.
