Do you support war or the death penalty? Do you eat eggs or meat? If so, you can’t really be pro-life.

Plants are living beings.

Also common eggs are unfertilized so it isn’t a great comparison since nothing died to get you those eggs.

Yes, and vegetarianism kills possibly more animals than eating meat does, due to the small animals and insects that are killed when land is cleared for agriculture.

The egg may not be fertilized, but it is a potential life form.

To avoid killing for food, eat by products like eggs and apples which don’t kill the animal or plant.

Not really, in Texas, do they make woman hold a funeral for every menstruations since they eject an unfertilized egg which is a potential life form.

I’m sure that will come next. And masturbation for men will be illegal.

Same thing with human embryos. Which you already denounced as not deserving to live, yet chickens and other egg laying animals all should have their potential life forms live?

You are the one whose argument is inconsistent. I am pro-choice and I eat eggs and meat.

I do not support war or the death penalty, and I am vegan so I do not eat eggs or carcasses, but these are all irrelevant.

The death penalty is given to people who do harm onto others. A fetus is completely innocent, so there is no comparison. Eggs that humans eat are unfertilized and are basically a chicken’s period. I know many humans who do not agree with killing humans but do not mind killing other species of animals for food as most humans have the belief that we superior to all other species and that other species do not have the same rights.

Yes but they do not feel pain and have a different level of sentience than humans.

What do you think that animals who die for food eat? Not only do the animals you eat die, but also the animals your “food” eats, and the animals who are killed when the land is cleared for their food.

P.S. It is called “pro-life”, not “pro-anything-that-has-the-potential-to-become-a-life”.

You don’t know if a fetus is innocent or not. Actually, it is not even a person so it does not possess any traits. However, assuming that a soul is attached to the fetus, that soul would carry with it the impressions of previous lives, including karma both good and bad. So it would not be innocent.

Anyway, if you value life and are “pro-life” and not just “anti-abortion,” then you should support protecting all life, whether it is innocent or not. People do not deserve to die just because they have committed a crime. If you think they do, you are not “pro-life.”

A Buddhist would not say that animals are less important than humans.

A study has shown that plants do their best to avoid being harmed.

Animals eat each other and I eat animals. I do not claim to be “pro-life.” I am “pro-choice,” which means I support the rights of others to make choices. You do not.

Yes, I know that fetuses are innocent, and I do not believe that a person is responsible for bad things they did in other lives (but I don’t believe in reincarnation anyways). If you believe that, though, then that still does not make them guilty because you don’t know what they have done in other lives. They are not guilty for what they might have done in a past life if reincarnation exists.

And about it not being a person, you are wrong. The definition of “person” by Merriam-Webster is “a human being”, and human fetuses are most definitely human beings, what could even make you think they are not? You only believe that because you don’t want to accept the sad truth that abortion is murder of a human being.

Anyway, if you value life and are “pro-life” and not just “anti-abortion,” then you should support protecting all life, whether it is innocent or not. People do not deserve to die just because they have committed a crime. If you think they do, you are not “pro-life.”

I do not believe in killing, but I do believe that some people’s lives have more value than others.

The definition of “pro-life” by Merriam-Webster is “opposed to abortion”, so I’m not sure why you’re giving adding in all these other qualifications.

A study has shown that plants do their best to avoid being harmed.

I am aware of this, but studies have also shown that plants do not feel pain.

Animals eat each other and I eat animals.

I am not necessarily against other people eating animals. I am against the practices of the meat and dairy industries and I don’t like how people support that willingly.

I do not claim to be “pro-life.” I am “pro-choice,” which means I support the rights of others to make choices. You do not.

I never claimed to be pro-life, either. I am not. I think abortion is morally wrong, but I do not think that it should be illegal and I also think that in some cases it could be what’s best. I just don’t like people dehumanizing babies in order to justify murder.

The question of when a person begins is philosophical, not scientific. It is not a fact that a fetus is a person.

Definition of fetus by my buddy Merriam-Webster: “a human being or animal in the later stages of development before it is born”

Merriam is always right. Fetuses are not only scientifically human beings, but also semantically.

A human being or animal “before it is born” is not a person. It is a fetus.

You should read this article. Here is a quote from it:

“Anti-choicers insist not only that a fetus is a human being, but that this status is an objective scientific fact. Unfortunately, they are assuming the very thing that requires proving, thereby committing the logical fallacy of “begging the question.” Biology, medicine, law, philosophy, and theology have no consensus on the issue, and neither does society as a whole. There will never be a consensus because of the subjective and unscientific nature of the claim, so we must give the benefit of the doubt to women, who are indisputable human beings with rights.

Anti-choicers must claim that fetuses are human beings, of course, or they really have no case against abortion. Since this claim is the cornerstone of their position, it should be critiqued in detail, from philosophical, legal, social, and biological perspectives[2]. Even though it has little relevance for the actual practice of abortion, the assertion that fetuses are human beings has a potentially great impact on the rights of women.”

Y’all need to chill.  Trump and the republicans are not gonna ruin the country or take your rights away.  According to the constitution, the president is elected by the electoral collage and not the population.

Now if you guys didn’t notice, this is the Current World Events thread, not the political debate thread.  So if you would please take this somewhere else, that would be awesome.  I’m kinda tired of coming to this thread thinking there are current events, but instead getting 2 pages of political opinions

stay-on-topic

Thank You
