^^ I still think people need an alternative that is actually different from the party in power – the parties here are virtually indistinguishable nowadays in their idiocy and inhumanity.
They do but the person leading the opposition has to appeal to the electorate no matter what their policies are. Its not good for Britain to have two of the three main political groups in disarray.
Tho it is highly amusing to see the SNP getting reprimanded when they dont respect 200 year old traditions in the House of Commons by clapping their hands.

To an extent, @trcanberra, I understand your opinion. However, apart from countries in turmoil (like Greece, for all the good it did them), parties from the extremes do not get elected. JC is not saying anything much different from parties on the extreme left, like the Socialist Workers Party. What is the total number of MPs those parties who espouse similar policies to JC have managed to get elected in the past 40 years? Zero. Zilch. None.
Whatever the attraction of the extremes, they do not have the support in most countries to make them electable. There was no argument during our last election that Ed Milliband wasn’t left-wing enough. Parties become more centre-ground because the electorate is the centre. The big battles between left and right have been fought, won and lost, so what point is there in a party who wants to refight battles already lost?
While I do not believe Labour under Corbyn will suffer the humiliation at the next election the Lib-Dems faced at the last, I can only see them losing more seats – specifically in the South. To me, the Labour Party is being led away from any chance of winning the next by people who aren’t even members of the party. While the previous electoral college Labour used was deeply flawed, Milliband’s replacement of it has proved the disaster for the party many predicted when it was brought in.
Just as in the 80s, having the main opposition unelectable is hugely damaging to democracy.
I did vote Milliband in the last leadership election, @meanmistermustard, but the other one.
While I do not blame the Scots for voting SNP in May, though there can be no argument that the SNP were used by the Tories to scare the electorate South of the border. Scottish Labour does need reinventing. The shame is that it provided the Tories with a weapon that lost Labour seats in England as well as in Scotland.
15 to 30 minutes to go.
Damn!

I’m watching it. Its exciting to watch a party as it votes itself into years of chaos, disharmony and turmoil.
And Jeremy won it. 251417 votes – 59.5% of the total. The majority backed him.
Ron, I meant did you vote for Labour knowing that Ed would have been hopeless as party leader and it would have resulted into even more disharmony behind the scenes? Tho somehow you’ve managed to get there via another route now.

Oh crap! It is Corbyn by a landslide. The Tories must be laughing their arses off at the stupidity of Labour. Just how bad it is we’ll find out when we see how many of Labour’s big beasts refuse to serve in his shadow cabinet.
A tragic day for this Labour supporter who cannot, in good conscience, vote for a Labour Party that has shifted so far to the left.

We have had the first Shadow Cabinet resignation, two of the other three leadership candidates have said they will not will serve in a Corbyn Shadow Cabinet. Labour’s big beasts are starting to walk away.
I answered your second question, @meanmistermustard, about wanting Ed as party leader. I voted Labour last time with a heavy heart, knowing he had a good Shadow Cabinet. Whether Corbyn can build as strong a SC is to be seen. I think the chances are slim. I see much of their front benches fleeing to the backbenches to avoid complicity in Corbyn’s leadership. This is the worst disaster for Labour since Michael Foot.

“A tragic day for this Labour supporter who cannot, in good conscience, vote for a Labour Party that has shifted so far to the left.”
Whereas I often vote for them here with a heavy heart when they have moved so far to the right.
Locally it seems we have a new Prime Minister. A former treasurer once made dire predictions about us being on the verge of becoming a Banana Republic. Violent transitions aside; it seems we have now become just that with all of our recent changes of PM while still in office (by both sides of politics now).
Back when Labor did this the Libs were all “holier than thou” – and played the instability card at the subsequent elections – at least they will have to ditch this now as they have shown that they are the mostly the same sort of treacherous self-interested types that most politicians seem to be.

Another school shooting
He shot his girlfriend before travelling about 300 to 500 miles north to the Delta State campus. I live across the bayou (about a mile and half if you drive or walk) from where he murdered his girlfriend. My neighborhood is a safe neighborhood, but things unfortunately bad things happen in good neighborhoods.

I do hope there is no point where the sadness and anger i feel over these shootings dissipates.
What else is there to type nowadays with these tragedies?

There is so much of an over saturation of negative news that people become desensitized to it.

I basically have. When my mom first posted about the shooting happening at Delta State, I made a sarcastic comment about it. I said ” Another school shooting. Nothing to see here. Move along.” Not trying to be mean, but they happen so often and the country does nothing. I grew up with school shootings. Never been involved in one, but they were always on tv. Its second nature.

A new unauthorised biography has been published on David Cameron (UK Prime Minister) by his ex-friend Lord Ashcroft and Isabel Oakeshott. Ignoring the motives for the book can you publish a book about a real life person with anecdotes and then admit when questioned they may not be true? Where does the line get drawn between an unverified anecdote and writing lies based on one persons account?

If the events didnt happen how can it be based on them? Unless the real part is that David Cameron is a real living person.
You do get artistic license (aka making it up) tho.

David Cameron may have slept with a dead pig
He isnt said to have slept with a pig, instead he is reported to have put “a private part of his anatomy” into the mouth of a dead pig – all of this taking part during his days in uni. As you do when you’re in uni. Thankfully I went to college.

How on earth do some people get to sleep at night? The BBC report that
The head of a US pharmaceutical company has defended his company’s decision to raise the price of a 62-year-old medication used by Aids patients by over 5,000%.
Turing Pharmaceuticals acquired the rights to Daraprim in August.
CEO Martin Shkreli has said that the company will use the money it makes from sales to research new treatments.
The drug treats toxoplasmosis, a parasitic affliction that affects people with compromised immune systems.
After Turing’s acquisition, a dose of Daraprim in the US increased from $13.50 (£8.70) to $750.
The pill costs about $1 to produce, but Mr Shkreli, a former hedge fund manager, said that does not include other costs like marketing and distribution, which have increased dramatically in recent years…

Leaves me not knowing what to say.
After a huge backlash the company is cutting its price increase tho they havent said by what amount.
Martin Shkreli, the head of Turing Pharmaceuticals, told US media he would drop the price following the outcry, but did not say by how much.

Maybe you have to be incredible posh and go to highly expensive universities to get up to such high-jinks and laffs then.
