It seems like the only news people post here is about people dying. Negative murder press draws the eye and you all can’t look away.
I posted about a baby elephant being rescued from a well.

All I could think of when I read that was “Well well well, oh well” off Plastic Ono Band.

Thats so cool.
There was something similar recently with ‘Twist And Shout ‘ which is also really cool.
Looks to be a common thing amongst football fans, especially Motherwell (for those not in the know Motherwell are a Scottish football team, occasionally they’re actually pretty decent too).

One of those cases of blatant injustice and corruption yet the folk in power deny anything untoward has happened – as reported by the BBC (more at the link).
Thousands rallied behind a top-ranked student who not only failed her exams but was given the lowest marks possible in a potential case of injustice and corruption.
Her expectations were high – and rightfully so. Mariam Malak had achieved nearly perfect marks in previous years, results which made her one of Egypt’s top performing high school students. When final exam marks were announced, she eagerly scanned the list top scores, but to her surprise, her name was not on it. Still, she was still confident she’d done enough to get into a medical school – until she saw her results, and fainted.
“I was completely shocked,” Malak told BBC Trending. “I couldn’t hear anyone, I couldn’t speak. I thought how can that happen? How can I get zero?”
Malak scored zero out of 100 not just on one exam, but on all seven she sat. The results were so incredible that she and her family immediately suspected foul play. Initially there was speculation that Malak was failed on purpose because she’s a member of Egypt’s Coptic Christian minority. But that theory was quickly dismissed and now the family believes that she is a victim of corruption…
To get the minimum possible score, a pupil must more or less leave the paper blank, and whoever filled out Malak’s exam papers merely wrote out the exam questions. The Egyptian Ministry of Education investigated and subjected Malak to five handwriting tests, afterwards concluding that the flunking exam papers were indeed hers. She and her supporters refuse to accept that conclusion, however, and she even did a handwriting test on live television. It showed her writing is markedly different from that on the exam papers. And since her story came to light, another top student came forward to protest her own zero grades.

Not sure where this should be………But it’s written and proposes to be ‘news today………’
This is the nastiest, shitiest piece of sensationalist crap reporting I think I’ve ever seen about John…..Paul should sue. We know John’s darkside better than most. Smacking Julian for little reason is wrong but it’s not the same as handing out a beating……. ask Brian Wilson about his dad’s abuse for that…… John womanised ….Well who didn’t and Yoko manised and set May Pang up for John.
I’m not aware that John hit a lot of women………Anyway see what you think. For me it takes some admissions but embellishes them beyond the bounds of decent journalism.

It’s what happens when an image is presented as fact whilst all the bad stuff is glossed over. Yoko has been putting out a John who was some kind of Saint for years; folk are going to read his flaws and find it very hard to swallow.
Stick any of us under a light and you’ll find a ton of flaws, mistakes and stuff we’d be horrified if it became public knowledge.

I’ve seen that before: they’re just trying to get people to read their article. Sure, John could be a bit hypocritical. And he made mistakes. And he’s painted as some sort of saint, when in fact he was just a confused human being like the rest of us. But I don’t like the tone of that article at all– the author writes like a vengeful ex-wife.
Ick!

Well, here we are, just a few hours to go until we find out if the UK’s Labour Party has made itself irrelevant. A dreadful leadership election with, what looks like, a dreadful outcome. A lesson in how to make your party unelectable. I have only ever not voted Labour once in my life (and that was in a London Mayoral where the Labour man – Ken Livingstone – was not the Labour candidate). He soon became the Labour man again after winning.
This is a dreadful situation though. Jeremy Corbyn becomes Labour leader and I no longer have a party I can vote for. The Conservative Party will no longer have a national party of opposition, and we are condemned to Tory rule until at least 2025. I did not vote for Jeremy when I voted on Wednesday. I will not renew my party membership when it comes up should Jeremy, as looks likely, become leader.
Don’t get me wrong, I admire Jeremy, and many of his positions (though am appalled by others). I have seen enough in my life, however, to know my country will never elect a very left-wing Prime Minister. And so, if Labour have done what it looks like they have done, they have made themselves unelectable. The next General Election, if Corbyn has been elected, could see Labour wiped out and a resurgent Lib-Dems becoming the official opposition.
My vote will definitely go Lib-Dem if Corbyn is declared Labour leader in just over twelve hours.

Labour have been a mess since Blair stood down and been disintegrating for years. They made themselves irrelevant when Ed Milliband screwed his brother over by selling out to the trade unions as the country would never vote him in as Prime Minister and if anything they made a bigger shitfest of it by losing almost all of Scotland. For large parts of the country it was yeah the Tories will screw us over and Cameron is a slimy git but its still got to be better than Ed.
I havent paid attention to the election of the party leader for a while as it was the same garbage as always; lovely soundbites designed to be easily swallowed by the gullible whilst they all bitched about everything thats ever happened yet failing to take any blame personally or admit any actual flaws as god forbid he/she might be seen as being human. The last i saw was some guy sitting on an ITV sofa trying to dress up being miles behind in the polls as a good thing!!

^^ Hope they do get someone from the left-wing; for too long now Labour here has been drifting towards the center and sounding more and more right-wing. Let people suffer long enough under a Conservative government and they will begin to see how much they need a party that actually cares for people and not for themselves.
If not, well, I guess UK people get what they deserve.

Out of interest why do they keep allowing Blair to raise his head, its like what happened with the Tories and Peter Mandelson? Most of the country think he’s a liar, others also want to see him tried for war crimes.
Ooh, James Corbyn has said Blair should stand trial over the illegal war in Iraq according to the Guardian.

That will always be something that seriously pisses me off with politicians, folks high up in the churches etc. They talk about how important it is to act immediately to stop people staving yet then spend the next 35 days debating if their dinner should be served at 8pm or 8:15pm the next time they meet.
Monty Python nailed it.

No, @trcanberra, you’re wrong, get over it!
Seriously, though, here is the fault line in how this election has been run, JC (what initials!) could actually win this without having won over the majority of Labour Party members. He could win on this on the basis of Union affiliate members and £3 “supporters”.
Surely the job of a leadership election is to elect someone you believe could win the top job. That is the job of political parties, to be electable. I doubt there are many of those who have voted for Corbyn who believe he can be the next Prime Minister.
Too far to the left, too far to the right, you stand no chance anywhere but a panicking, and failing, democracy.
The middle is where the majority, left or right, are.
Corbyn will be a disaster for UK politics, and for UK democracy. That cannot be applauded.
He has voted against the leadership over 500 times, how can he possibly expect any loyalty from the backbenches? A party divided is unelectable. And a Corbyn-led Labour party would be unelectable. I want an electable Labour party.

Did you vote for Milliband to be PM in the last election? Did you even want him as Party Leader?
The idea of him going to meet World Leaders to secure deals and make a lasting impact on events happening both home and abroad is scary. The man was a buffoon. At least Cameron has a bit of weight and conducts himself properly – usually. He didnt do a very good job earlier today.
I voted Labour for years but switched to the SNP as i want whats best for Scotland and dont believe Labour give a crap about us. And nor did the ex-Scottish Labour Party leader Johann Lamont considering her resignation comments. It was suicide jumping into bed with the Conservatives over Independence, should have known we would have kicked back twice as hard and tried to appease us in some way.
