Singer R Kelly has been convicted on all counts of the many racketeering and sex trafficking charges he faced in New York. Dating as far back as the ’90s, there have been multiple accusations against him across the years, involving underage girls and boys, as well as women, he got off on a charge of possessing child pornography over a decade ago, but now the sick b*****d has to answer for his abuse and control of his victims.

One of those who testified against him in this trial met him when she was supporting his innocence at his previous trial, with her support being rewarded with her becoming another victim of his.

He faces a minimum of 15 years, and I hope the disgusting b*****d gets the longest sentence possible.

R Kelly, paedophile and rapist, may your years ahead be hell.

You may have believed you could fly and do whatever you wanted, I believe you should spend the rest of your f*****g life rotting in a cell or being raped in the showers.

Hate you f*****s who use your fame to abuse and hurt others, thinking your victims will never be believed because of your fame and money.

Today they were rightfully believed by a New York court, and that is justice!

Conservative MP Sir David Amess has been stabbed during his Friday Surgery to meet constituents. He is reported to have been stabbed several times and while his condition is unknown, some sources close to him have said his condition is “serious”. Ambulance crews are said to still be working on him at the scene.

The police have a suspect in custody.

Essex police have issued a statement: “A man has died at the scene of a stabbing in England.”

Though not confirmed to be the MP, it seems highly unlikely it isn’t.

Another dreadful day for democracy.

This really gets my blood going.

A 21-year-old – then 19 – from Lawton, Oklahoma has been sentenced to 4 years jail for suffering a miscarriage.

Probably got nothing to do with the fact that she’s from the Comanche nation, either.

America, America… If I hadn’t read where this story was from I genuinely would have placed it in the Middle East. The dystopian future is here!

@Ahhh Girl did this story get much airtime in your state?

Having read the story, I actually find it a more complicated situation than her being jailed for simply suffering a miscarriage. It seems as if she compromised her pregnancy by using drugs, and that while that drug use may not have directly caused the miscarriage, it could well have been a contributing factor, and that the fetus was showing signs of having been damaged by her drug use.

Mothers who take their pregnancies to full term while using drugs, and who give birth to a child already addicted to those drugs, would – in many countries, including my own, and possibly yours – see the mother facing the strong possibility of losing their parental rights to the state, along with possibly facing criminal charges for child neglect/abuse.

I would be outraged were it simply a case of her suffering a natural miscarriage being jailed, but her drug use while pregnant presents an aggravating factor, especially with the fetus already showing signs of having been harmed for life by her drug use had the pregnancy gone to full term.

I’m not sure jailing her for manslaughter is necessarily the right response, rather than getting her help to stop using damaging drugs, but feel it is a more nuanced situation because of her drug use, and the harm it had already done to the fetus.

I just think it sounds a more complicated situation than the “mother jailed for having a miscarriage” headline portrays.

No idea what it is for but the UK government is giving funding for some Beatles experience, presumably in Liverpool; it was just announced in the Budget. I wasn’t paying much attention and ‘Beatles’ aroused my attention.

Helpful.

Some people were saying that she should have just gotten a regular abortion and she wouldn’t have gotten into any trouble. That faction wonders why it is ok to kill a fetus one way but not another.

Agree – the drugs don’t help, but I just can’t see how jailing her for manslaughter helps anyone in this situation. It just reads to me as another victim of the war on drugs, and the war on women.

Ultimately, there wouldn’t have been a problem had she got an abortion because that’s the end of the story, if it’s legal… The fetus dies either way, but the (mental and physical) health of the mother remains more intact than having a miscarriage.

As asked by a good few, and in a BBC report – is this really needed just now in Liverpool which is swathed in Beatle nostalgia? Wouldn’t it be better to direct the money elsewhere, for instance helping those who are really struggling following Covid, especially with inflation driving prices up and the energy price crisis?

I’m sure it will be bring jobs and tourism, and all in favour of such investment further down the line, it’s the timing of now that seems off to me.

Theres a strong chance that the Beatles experience lasts for generations and becomes and integral part of the tourist industry in England but that’s just me speculating.

Thanks to Adele Spotify are removing the shuffle button from all their album pages.

Adele had argued that the shuffle button meant many never heard albums in the way the artist intended, leading to Spotify announcing they’d be removing the shuffle button and making the play button the default.

It doesn’t stop people creating playlists so they can listen to songs on an album in the order they want, but it does make it more likely that people will listen to the album the artist put their blood and sweat into creating.

Adele tweeted:

We don’t create albums with so much care and thought into our track listing for no reason.

Our art tells a story and our stories should be listened to as we intended. Thank you Spotify for listening.

A victory for the album as a format to continue as a format in the digital age, rather than albums becoming a set of songs to be listened to in no particular order.

You have to wonder if other streaming services will follow Spotify’s lead, especially if it leads to artists withholding albums from streaming services that continue to allow shuffle to be an easy option for listening to them.

I like the album format, believing shuffle often destroys the artists intent (ever listened to Abbey Road  on shuffle?), and so Adele deserves…

I often make use of the ‘shuffle albums’ feature on iTunes when I’m working. I enjoy listening to albums I wouldn’t necessarily have chosen myself. Listening to albums in the wrong order is just weird – it’s like eating your pudding before your main course. There’s a comfort in knowing what song is coming up next.

I read that shuffle will still be possible, just not the default, which is a relief, cause I LOVE a shuffle feature. (And don’t see why Adele should presume to speak for all artists, or why Spotify shouldn’t leave the option in place for artists who aren’t Adele).

That’s a great idea, but I hope that they leave it easy to find for things like greatest hits albums…

Otherwise, a rare example of streaming services listening to artists!

Very appreciative that Spotify have listened to Adele, particularly when it comes to The Beatles… Not too long ago I asked a friend of mine who is a rookie Beatles fan to stick on Abbey Road and he put it on shuffle paul-mccartney-facepalm_gif

I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.
