Also, I really do hate living in a country that is strictly a two-party system (that is, two ruling parties where you basically have no other realistic options because third parties are so minor). Like I don’t like Republicans or Democrats, but because of our majorly two-party system I’m forced to only choose between these two when it comes to elections. And while, yes, some progressive leftists do sometimes register and run as Dems, I still wish we had a more prominent progressive leftist party :/
Personally, i’d abolish political parties entirely and instead have everyone write in the candidates of their choice (one slot for president, the other for VP) with ranked choice voting.
It’d look something like this:
1. Rand Paul/Justin Amash2. Bill Weld/Gary Johnson
3. Andrew Yang/Tulsi Gabbard
4. ________/________
5. ________/________
Are you kidding? We would end up with so many John Adams/Thomas Jefferson situations. I don’t like political parties much either, but this just does not sound like a good idea.

I don’t really thinking abolishing or even making substantial changes to the US two party system is the solution. The problem is the corrupting influence of money within the political system so that both parties are ultimately two sides of the same corporatist coin. They differ on many social issues, which is why I’d always vote Democrat if I were an American, but they are ultimately both committed to preserving and promoting the ability of their corporate masters to accumulate wealth, both domestically and internationally.

Boris Johnson had his Head of Communications resigning yesterday, his Chief Advisor Dominic Cummings (he of the eyesight-testing drive to Barnard Castle earlier in the year) has said he will be gone by the end of the year. Seems when No. 10 should be dealing with the pandemic they’re caught up in in-fighting. Seems Boris’ fiancee, former Head of Communications, but no longer with an official role (and therefore not answerable), is encouraging a purge of those who have been Boris’ closest advisors in recent year. Will Carrie Symonds become the Conservative Party’s Yoko Ono?

Apparently Cummings said back in January he would be gone (made self-redundant) by the end of 2021. Looks terrible due to the resignation of Lee Cain yesterday.
Can’t say I care one iota about the Tories or what they are doing, their handling of the pandemic is dreadful.

Feck off before the UK economy plummets post-Brexit, and you don’t get to carry as much of the blame than if you were the Captain of the sinking ship- hoorah
I keep forgetting about the joys that are coming the way of the good old UK as Brexit unfolds. The few years of misery as we all bask in the glow of complete chaos whilst being told the good times are here and more are coming, we just don’t appreciate it.
I say few years as having successfully won the Euro’s, Scotland will proudly and magnificently take our Independence in hand and march off to our own destiny as other countries admire our brilliance and riches. Meanwhile England continues to plead to be allowed back into the EU with some perverse argument of how the EU really needs them and is suffering apart.

I was talking to a lad who worked on marketing campaigns for the 2012 Olympics a year ago and he said he feels slightly guilty in that his campaigns were obviously how great Britain is and that it might have partially led to grandiose delusions on how great the UK actually is by itself.
This YouGov poll of Tory members in June 2019 is just depressing:
(I also love the 1% that don’t want to give up Scotland but will happily give up Northern Ireland).

If it takes Brexit for Scotland to go alone I would take it. Being harnessed to England is s**t (cue list by others of why we should be honoured to be where we are).

Bloody hell, even as a mild Brexiteer myself I cannot fathom why people are so dedicated to it that they’d sacrifice the union, the economy and the destruction of their own party.

Though he will be kept on the payroll until mid-December, less than 24 hours after he let it known he would be gone by Christmas, Dominic Cummings today cleared his desk and it was let known that his time at Downing Street is over.
The official US election watchdog has pronounced the 2020 election as the most secure ever, Nevada has gone for Biden, and China has recognised Biden as President Elect. The international group of former leaders founded by Nelson Mandela and known as The Elders have criticised Trump for refusing to acknowledge the result and undermining democracy in the process. And still Trump pretends the American public didn’t just say, “You’re fired!”

Georgia has just been projected for Biden. How long can Trump keep talking about fraud and a stolen election?

He’ll be doing it for years, he’ll probably have it read out as his self-penned eulogy.

I say we give Trump what he wants, which is a full hand recount in all the close states (Georgia, North Carolina, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Nevada). If Trump loses even after the manual recounts (which is very likely), he’ll have no choice but to concede.
If you're reading this, you are looking for something to do.
