A student at a school not too far from me has it as well apparently… I wonder how many degrees of seperation they have from me and thus how long it is before I get it

The Irish Prime Minister, Leo Varadkar has just shut all schools and colleges in the Republic (include universities, @AppleScruffJunior?) from tomorrow until the end of the month, as well as child care facilities and public buildings like museums etc., and has said that all mass gatherings above 100 people (indoors) and 500 people (outdoors) should be cancelled.
What will Boris do later today?

Offline The Republic of Ireland closing all schools, universities etc from tonight at 6pm. Advice is for all 100+ gatherings and outdoor events to be postponed/cancelled.
Spain cancel La Liga.
Got to wonder when the UK do the same with large scale events and such. The current strategy cannot remain when everywhere else is taking more extreme measures.

Offline University and college are synonymous here @Ron Nasty . Am currently sitting in what will probably be my last undergrad lecture as by the time the curfew is finished, we’d have been on study week anyways.
I have all of my stuff in my car ready to go back to the hometown anyways. Looking forward to being around the family for a month, they’re a nice bunch.

Offline I wonder if that’s a sign of what is going to come from Boris shortly. Things seem to have changed since the World Health Organisation said it was a pandemic yesterday evening and criticised unnamed countries (US and UK?) for not being proactive enough.
EDIT: Seems it is only a recommendation – advice and not a ban – at the moment, just to free up emergency services and not to control the spread of the virus…
Mass gatherings require to be policed, they require to have emergency ambulance cover, they require the services of voluntary health services.
At a time when we need to be reducing the pressures on these frontline workers – in order to free them up to focus on the significant challenge that lies ahead – I do think it’s inappropriate that we continue as normal.
…and she still has no problem with schools and universities staying open.

So far so good
I am hoping we stay this way; however, I know spring break is right around the corner and people are going to head to the beaches of Gulf Shores, AL or Florida (so passing through here). 
On the plus side, the snowbirds should be heading home.

Offline Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has tested positive. The whole first team are now self isolating. Difficult to see any Arsenal games going ahead when they don’t have a team.
The Australian Grand Prix, though still unconfirmed, has been cancelled.

Offline I seem to be the only one in my course happy that we were shipped home. I can now work in peace, at my own time and not be in my mildly-claustrophobic college gaf on my own thinking about having a nap at 4pm.
If exams are all out cancelled in college there’s a good chance I won’t see both the very nice people and the one prick until October or so when we (hopefully) graduate. Sad times.

Offline Arsenal v Brighton has been postponed. A Chelsea player is the latest to test positive for coronavirus.
Premier League team’s meeting today (hopefully all done thru face time) to discuss what they do.
Not a chance in hell games in large football stadiums should be played. Get it all postponed.
Rangers v Celtic is this Sunday in Scotland. Government want all large gatherings banned from Monday. Coincidence?

Offline Premier league and English football league postpone all football matches until 4th April. No other option considering what’s going on.
Seems everyone is taking the steps everyone thinks should be happening whilst the government point to some science folk they believe (or want to believe) and continue to delay.

Offline If UEFA do postpone the Euros by a year next Tuesday that could allow domestic leagues that have closed down across Europe to extend into the summer.
The Italian Grand Prix has just been postponed, so you gotta wonder – with China and Australia already postponed, Bahrain (at the moment) taking place closed doors – if there will be a Formula One season this year.
