Italy has closed all schools and universities for 10 days (why not 14?).
California Governor Gavin Newson has declared a state of emergency following the first death of a Pacer County resident.

It seems a lot has happened since i was last here.
Although i like to think of myself as left wing, i might end up voting for Trump if Biden wins the primaries. While i dislike many of Trump’s policies, he shines when it comes to economics and peacekeeping.
Also, i feel it’s necessary to point out that Bernie is a social democrat who supports incorporating elements of socialism into capitalism, creating a mixed economy just like the Nordic model that’s also regularly mislabeled as socialism.

^No. Bernie calls himself a democratic socialist because he is one. His economic model of taxing the billionaires out of existence to give to the poor is not like Scandinavia’s social democracy, which is based on a very free market and taxing everyone but mostly the middle class.
Also give in to the Big Bad Orange Man, you know you want to

Honestly, at this point I wouldn’t care if Trump became president again……I just really wish that the people who he appoints to cabinet positions are actually qualified this time around…..
*sigh* I really want to argue your point made here, but right now I’m exhausted and just want to watch Queer Eye and then fall asleep. Raincheck for tomorrow?

Trump was the first US president to cross into the North Korea demilitarized zone. He called off a bomb strike after Iran shot down our drone. He did not start World War III. Race relations in the US have actually improved since Obama left office. Those are cherry-picked examples and I don’t know if “shines” is the specific terminology I’d use, but he’s done surprisingly well.
EDIT: never mind I was misreading the poll I got that from, ignore that point

I would say people are more open racist now than perviously and more divided with such things as the Charlottesville incident or locking children in cages. I think people should come here legally, but put them in cages in a bit much.
He may have not started WWIII; however he has insulted various international leaders.

1) If people are racist, I’d rather they speak up about it so I can argue with them and/or avoid them altogether. If people are discriminating in hiring or whatever, then we condemn them.
2) The Charlotteville incident, while tragic, was one isolated incident which does not speak of race relations so much as it does of the growing societal polarization and violent tendencies of the increasingly radicalized, often mentally ill fringes of society. For what it’s worth, the nastier elements of the rally were also soundly and explicitly condemned by President Trump.
3) Detaining illegal immigrants and separating adults from children a) has nothing to do with race (Hispanic people can be white, indigenous, black, mestizo, any combination thereof, etc.) and b) is standard practice when people are arrested in this country. It was also carried out under President Obama. And I ask you, if you want to stop people from entering the country legally, then what are you to do besides arrest and detain them in secure facilities (which, for the record, many of them were relatively luxurious compared to the hardships a lot of those people put themselves through trying to cross deserts to get here)? You can’t just catch them and then turn them loose and expect them not to disappear into the American population.
4) He’s a rude, brash New Yorker who says the things that everyone else is afraid to say, and he acknowledges it. Often he “tweets from the hip” as it were. While I understand why people find his conduct troubling, I hardly find it a deal breaker considering how well the economy is doing and the actions he’s taken in regards to China (I have a lot of problems with the Chinese Communist Party, so anything America can do to stop feeding the beast as we’ve been doing is good in my book). (I also find it hilarious but that’s just me, speaking as someone with a history of saying the things that other people are afraid to say, often to some social detriment.)

Italy v England in the Six Nations to be postponed. At this point, they should postpone the entire competition and play it in the summer/autumn.
I’m not too sure people are more openly racist, there is simply more opportunity for them to be heard via social media etc. I’d rather they pissed off to get some education and see we’re all one regardless of whatever, but that is not going to happen. I cannot say I’d prefer for their views to be out there in the first place but I would rather they be challenged and shown to be the deplorable humans that they are instead of just being shut down.
I have no liking for Trump and don’t think there is any defence for how he is or acts.

Tulsi is too stubborn for her own good and, on a personal/non-strategic level, I kind of love it.
Also, she doesn’t have as many supporters as Fauxcahontas Warren, so it’s not like she’s weakening one of the main candidates (I.e. Bernie).

Could Trump’s reaction to the coronavirus lead to his defeat in November?
While the rest of the world is in the process of shutting down, he talks of fake news and suggests people with mild symptoms should still go to work – ignoring the advice of his medical experts.
It was interesting to watch an American passenger on the Grand Princess cruise ship, finally docking today, comment – when asked what she’d thought of his saying he was against letting the ship dock – that she couldn’t possibly repeat her thoughts on hearing him on TV, adding “Our Commander-in-Chief wanted to abandon us.”
Is Trump getting damaged by this, and if it does become a bigger outbreak in the US, will his attitude damage him further?
Could the coronavirus have changed the result?

He’ll throw out some aggressive soundbites and blame a few target groups as he normally does which most of his supporters will choose to believe. It is bizarre however how intent Trump is on with his message of “little to see here, carry on” whilst countries and counties are shutting down and warning folk to be ultra-careful and air on the side of deep-caution.

I don’t know I think it’s that simple.
It’s like how Hurricane Katrina saw a permanent swing against George W. The American outbreak looks worse than is being seen so far, partly down to the lack of testing because they don’t have the kits yet.
If Trump’s actions are seen to have made the situation worse and the US economy doesn’t fully bounce back by the time of the election, it could be a very different election to the one expected, as could be the result.

If this was during our presidency, both Holey and I would be cancelling all gatherings of over 1000 people, we’d have guaranteed instant sick pay for those who have to quarantine either as a precaution or because they’re actually sick and we’d be encouraging companies who have the capabilities to allow their staff to work from home. We would also, if certain towns, cities, states were to be quarantined, give both mortgage and household bill relief as seen in Italy.
Most importantly, we would also send disinformation around that all toilet paper in the US is made in China and there’s one last batch coming into the country and after next Monday, it’s gone! Get it while you can folks.
In my world:
Trinity College in Dublin has announced that instead of having lectures on campus they will instead be hosted online. Seminars, tutorials and labs will still be taking place in the university though. Now if my college were to follow suit, I wouldn’t be crying. I have my oral exams done and I’d like 6 or so weeks off before my exams.

As much as i hate to say it, i agree with Trump on the coronavirus. While the virus is bad, there’s no reason to act like we’re all going to die if the entire country doesn’t shut down.
