Marijuana is now legal at a federal level.https://thehill.com/opinion/ci…..-heres-why
We’re one step closer to living in a world where drugs are safe and legal instead of being some massive underground business run by vicious gangs.
Only the House Judiciary Committee has approved the bill. Now it has to go the entire House and then to the Senate and then to President. The piece of legislation has many more steps to go through to become a law.

The winds do seem to be blowing towards further decriminalization, and plausibly, eventual full legalization. Many legislators are aware of the financial opportunities in the industry; my neighbouring state of Michigan just issued its first licenses to sell cannabis days ago.
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

Not really my point, but ok.
Not sure I understand you either?
I mean, I don’t know, I just feel like abortion is sort of a more important issue? Like more of a pressing matter, since it involves medical procedures and women’s rights and I feel like marijuana useage is less pressing. I mean, I’d rather have the freedom to make decisions about my own body than the freedom to get high.

Since I’m not personally a user, I don’t really have a horse in the race, but it’s always struck me as ridiculous how taboo marijuana is with demographics who are more than comfortable with alcohol and tobacco. If those two are legal and accepted (hell, even encouraged – it’s a big thing to go and buy your first drink), then I don’t see any reason why Mary Jane shouldn’t be.

While it’s certainly safer then other drugs, marijuana isn’t perfect. It stunts brain development, contains carcinogenics, can be addictive, impairs your ability to drive, and the LD50 of THC for a 100 kg person is only 127 grams (or 4.48 ounces). And while these things aren’t too much of a problem (you can say similar things about tobacco, alcohol, and caffeine), the fact that lots of people try to contradict these points makes proper education of the drug extremely difficult.
If you're reading this, you are looking for something to do.

I don’t think many people seriously claim that marijuana is harmless, just that it’s a complete double standard for it to be illegal (with many people’s lives being ruined for using it) while substances that are equally, or even more dangerous, primarily alcohol and tobacco are accepted and even encouraged in the case of the former.

Only going by the short clip but since folk were audibly laughing is this one of those where it’s like those comedy roasts on tv where if taken out of context and in short bites it becomes apparently offensive when it was never intended or taken at the time. Or were they the deluded Trump supports who would cheer and vote Trump if he came to their homes, killed all their first-born children, boiled them up, served them for dinner then forced them to snort the ground-up bones which had been reduced to a fine powder before having all their other children executed in front of them?
In the good-old UK we go thru the voting for the party to lead the country for the next number of years on Thursday.

^^I know what you mean.
I couldn’t imagine having to vote in the UK. With FPTP a vote for a minor party is pretty much wasted, the Tories’ policies are a pile of ? and Corbyn is the least inspiring leader anyone could imagine…

The one positive is seeing Nigel Farage reminding everyone on a large scale he’s a very horrid person. Give nasty people with hideous views airtime and they will show themselves up for what they are.

I’m ready to vote Labour on Thursday. I don’t fully like or trust Corbyn, and have many criticisms of his leadership and strategy, but recently my eyes have been opened to how horrendously biased the news coverage on him is, and seeing him speak in person recently made me realise how down to earth he actually is.
Let’s not forget what the two party leaders were doing in the 80s – one was being arrested for protesting apartheid, another was in the infamous Oxford Bullindgon Club, burning £50 notes in front of homeless people and vandalising restaurants then paying for the damage in cash, ignoring all the hours of work staff would have to do to clean up after them.
Maybe it’s the fault of Labour, maybe it’s realignment along the lines of the Brexit issue, I don’t know, but to me it is an absolute tragedy to think that any working person in this country could ever vote Tory.
