Would you guys like me to tell you some of the claims here so you can tell me whether you think I am right or Joe is right.
It’s not about who’s right, it’s the information being correct.

I was just showing the BB to the guy next to me on the plane. I showed him your picture on the “About us” page. I noticed that you need to update your bio now that you have gone full-time with the site, your book, and your other web interests.
The guy pulled up the BB on his phone and said he would show it to his wife who loves The Beatles.

I don’t know about that, although I haven’t heard their version I know that they are well known for upbeat 12 string numbers, whereas this is a blues rock number and Jimi is a better guitarist than anyone in The Byrds, but this is for Joe to decide.

I like both versions (make that FOUR versions, can’t forget Love and The Leaves) for different reasons – Hendrix because his version was different (he didn’t do it in that fast 3-chord folk-rock style) and the Byrds’ for McGuinn’s hyperactive lead guitar (nobody was doing 12-string soloing like him in those days) (Are You Experienced? and Fifth Dimension both among my top 43 albums of alltime)

I’ve never heard the original before. It is great, but like a lot of original tunes, it demonstrates how a body with good bones can be really fleshed out by someone with talent and imagination, like Hendrix.

Beatlebug, sir walter raleighI say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'.

Although you’re in the wrong thread, I’ll answer your question anyways:
First, let’s look at the people who were involved with The Beatles:
: vocals, rhythm guitar
: vocals, bass guitar
: vocals, lead guitar
: drums, vocals
: bodyguard, assistant
: assistant
: manager
: record producer, studio pianist
Now we know that George Martin was the one who determined the running order of the albums, so it’s possible that he had a say, but if I had to guess who determined the live setlists, it was The Beatles, all 4 of them, with occasional help from Mal, Neil, Brian and George Martin.

I bet Epstein had a say in what they played. He had a tight grip on ther tours, but I’m sure the band played whatever they wanted each time. Not that it matters what the played, the audience went insane every time.

Thank you, sir. I was also wondering if BE had influence in this regard. Seems to make sense that his instincts might indeed have had some bearing IMO.

Hey Joe. Your website has been to the John Lennon Wall in Prague.
Cool beans. Someone took a picture of the wall since I’ve been there. http://gigapan.com/gigapans/199385
Some of the places where I wrote beatlesbible.com have been covered up with new paint, but at least 5 places are still there. Here’s a screen shot showing three of them.
