Listening to the Anthology 3 version of Hey Jude , Paul sings two lines:
When I was a robber in Boston Place,
You gathered round me with your fine embrace.
Would anybody be interested in me turning that into a full song? I’m writing a 1966-style song called Revolver , so it’d be really nice to do this one too.
That reminds me, I should start writing Rubber Soul .

Well, I just hope finish the song today or tomorrow, as I finally delivered a usable backing track yesterday (Take 76) though I decided to call it Take 4, as I changed the instrument to piano which it made it work better.
As for the ”Beautiful” song, I delivered it to her as a three verse poem as a present instead with the song pending for later. I hope that she likes it as a poem.
Let me take you down 'cause I'm going to...Strawberry Fields.

I do My band is going to record out first single in about 5 weeks time (double sided single), and self releasing it online. Both songs are very Beatle inspired, one song “It’s Hard to Say” is quite similar to Taxman musically, and the other “Something New” (yes…a song named after a Beatles album!) is quite similar to a number of their earlier numbers.
Hopefully we will be putting out in the 2nd week of July

Remember to give us a link! I just formed a band, we had a practice today and really gelled. I think it could work out (I was already friends with the guys). The two we’re the best at are The White Stripes’ Seven Nation Army and Green Day’s Brain Stew (which we segue into an instrumental version of the first verse of Hitchin’ A Ride (also Green Day), much in the same way Paul does Let Me Roll It followed by an instrumental of Foxy Lady)

Hello,
I’ve written many songs and my friends tell me they sound like Beatles tunes (go figure) a great compliment to say the least but I didn’t intend for them to sound that way until I just thought, what the heck just go with it so I wrote and recorded a song trying to sound like them, I even went as far as using tape and then dumping the tracks onto my computer to mix it all down. Well, with that said below is a link to my attempt. The song is called “C’mon Anita” It’s based on a story of a little girl that my mother in law used to nanny, who would sometimes sleepwalk.
I included a sound clip of my mother in law telling the story at the beginning of the song, she passed at the age of 98 in 2008.

Very nice song from thirstnhowl. Cool chord changes branching off from the main E-E7-E6-Eaug (?). Could you provide a list of the chords you use?
It’s interesting how a song can “sound like the Beatles” when the Beatles did so many different styles over the years; but nevertheless there is a distinct je-ne-sais-quoi about it.
Such a polished recording and presentation is daunting to me because of my comparatively shabby & low-tech beginnings in the world of getting my stuff recording, coupled with my difficulty in finding the right time to record when my voice is up to snuff (all four of my recordings I have put up on ReverbNation were recorded with my voice pretty bad, with some variation).
I’ll put up my next installment soon.

Great! Does really sound Beatley! Can’t pinpoint why though…

That’s how I feel, the production was great!
Looking forward to your newest attempt FP!

I wrote this one song named Some Things Don’t Last. It has a nice easy chord progession though. It consists G, C, and Cadd9. Never got to record it though. My software is crappy when it comes to this I’l try to tab it soon.
But the Cadd9 is a variation with your third finger on the b string on third fret, second finger on A on third fret, and first finger on D string second fret.
If children are studying the 20th century, I'm in their text books.

Thank you all for your comments! I don’t have real near field monitors so I’m never sure how my mixes will play on other systems. The best way to listen is probably through headphones. I have another song that has (imho) more of a mid sixties sound to it, it’s not really finished yet but I may post it to get your ideas on where it might go. thanks again.

Seems like there are problems with posting (lot of posts are “Awaiting Moderation”).
Anyway, thanks Mr. Kite. I finally have a new recording — “Jello”.
It’s passable, but still has lots of flaws (bad voice day, crappy recording system, lack of resources for multiple instrumentation, etc.); which would require the listener can imagine what the song would sound like without all these unessential impediments I listed.

Missed a few posts in this thread looking back…
@MrMoonlight Yeah I stil haven’t started Rubber Soul , vague single lyrics randomly come into my head, but that’s it. I think I had some music but didn’t write it down and don’t remember it currently..,
@TheOneBeatle At least you had the lyrics finished! I’m sure shell love the complete song!
And FP, love the guitar like usual. A really nice song. Once you fix those kinks you’ll have some amazing work up!

Thanks. Here are the lyrics:
Not too many people know what goes on
Not too many people can tell you what’s wrong
And not a lot of people know you’re missing the time of your lives
But lonely days would go forever if we’d listened to your lies
There’s days that go and ways we show what happens inside
But without a final answer you know I’ll lose my mind
We’re all well aware of when we play the blues
We’re all well aware that all of this is old news
But all of them’ll tell you the only way to move is on
And when a hope is broken they’ll regret it when they’re gone
Chorus
To dream and to know is something that’s all in your head
When dreaming for someone else is against everything they said
They know there’s not a lot of ways out when their ambition is crumbling down
You should know that they won’t listen the moment they come round
Everyone says that your dream will come true if you try so hard
But I know that’s a lie, a lie that’s caught me off-guard
For I’ve tried and I’ve tried and I’ve tried to get one sweet dream to come true
And when the dream is something wrong you can’t even try to be you
Break
They say that it’s straightforward when you know you aren’t screwed
But I’ve screwed up already and I know I’ll never get you
This whole thing’s gone on far too long and people think they’re above
But listen to my story and maybe I’ll have a dream of love.
