Sometimes a small thing that happended on an unplanned timing can make your day. Idk I just wanted to share it.

So while I was waiting for my laundry to be done, I went to a secondhand shop to buy a pair of shoes and on my way out I met a very nice lady who noticed the Donald Duck comic I had taken for free and she asked me, if I wanted her old Donald Duck comic collection and I said yes. When she handed them to me, she said “One of them features one of my favorite stories. It’s by Don Rosa (One of the most famous and important DD comics writers) .” I liked how she could tell I was still a DD comic fan (thought I don’t buy the new ones anymore as I don’t find the featured stories as good and creative as they used to be) considering she was probably in her 40’s and I was half of her age.

@Capri your post brings me back to the days when my friends and I would raid our local library for Scrooge McDuck and Donald Duck comics in the hopes of finding a Don Rosa — his are the best, I learnt so much history from those stories. heart

Wow, amazing countryside! It looks just like some parts of Yorkshire over here across the pond. Unfortunately I’m not going to be able to fit all that stuff into my states visit in September, but if I get the chance to return for longer I’d love to do so.

Indeed — it’s part of this sweet little plateau in the middle of the more normal dramatic mountain-range kind of mountains that looks just like the Scottish highlands or something, which is probably partly why the area has such a rich Scots/Irish/generally British immigrant heritage. (It’s a little bit warmer, though. a-hard-days-night-john-6) The spot where I was dozing under the tree had views of the plateau on one side and the foothills on another side and dramatic mountains from yet another angle, which is partly why it’s so fabulous — it’s like this magical little realm in between worlds where nothing is real. Strawberry Fields, like I said. heart

Happy travel tales:

Just arrived in Cologne, the gent of a hotel owner gave me free breakfast for my 3-day stay, a room with a balcony AND a view of the cathedral. He also asked me “how do you speak such good German?”- ohhh stop it you.

My train was only 7 minutes late arriving into the main station. No sad tales to report yet @The Hole Got Fixed.

As I mentioned in my art thread, I was at a family gathering for the past few days and was entertaining my little cousins the whole time. Anyway, we had nothing to do so we came up with a new game: Capture the Biscuit.

There are two teams: The Yokos and the Georges. When gameplay begins, both teams run at the “biscuit” in the middle (usually a rock, a ball, or, when we had to get creative, a ziplock bag of batteries). The team has to grab the biscuit and bring it back to their base without anyone from the other team tagging them.

Contrary to actual history, the Georges won.

All good things must come to an end or as a wiseman once said All Things Must Pass @The Hole Got Fixed.

Was walking down from the cathedral to the shopping area and didn’t notice there was an exposed latch in the ground (like where fire engines get their water from) I tripped over it and fecked my knee up. I’m pretty sure my cry of “fuuuccckkk” reverberated across the city. I hobbled over to a wall, making whimpering noises and feeling like my left leg was on fire. Some nice ‘German as a foreign language’ students called me over and gave me a seat at their table in a cafe, they also gave me ice to put on my knee while I muttered every expletive under the sun at my own foolish for not looking at the ground, and at Cologne’s authorities for allowing such a tripping hazard on a popular pedestrian street.

As some of you with good memories might recall, I had tendinitis in my right knee a few weeks ago. That cleared up after about 3 weeks of daily meds and wearing a knee brace but the brace might be coming back now :/

It’s nowhere near as bad as it was with my tendinitis where I’d be hobbling across the street, taking breaks every 5 minutes because it was too painful to walk but this is still a decent inconvenience.

In happier news I had good pizza today.

Why is this in the ‘Happiness…’ thread? Does the pizza negate the falling over and nearly de-limbing yourself activity?

You should sue Cologne for €10m due to the physical, mental and spiritual harm caused by your fall.

Ireland has got a ridiculous compo culture in the past few years where judges are paying out ridiculous amounts of money for stupid claims where it was the own person’s fault.

One that comes to mind recently is a 7-year old boy got given €40,000 for being trapped in a lift for 30 minutes.

Now, I was trapped in a lift in Berlin for 30 minutes and the thing ended up getting really hot and disgusting before a worker came to free us. Can I get over a grand a minute from my traumatizing experience?

I imagine a fellow leach will claim on that tripping-hazard in Cologne in a few years time. I’m a fool for not collecting the millions I would get if I sued every company I’ve hurt myself at.

Where there’s a blame, there’s a claim.

My DVDs of the best films ever made- High School Musical & High School Musical 2, have arrived. My friends and I are going watching them in late August together (the singalong versions obviously).

HSM also has a dance workshop included with it, so, it’s a bonus activity for us.

I did a quick google ^ and there’s nothing to suggest that Bowie was a fan of High School Musical or wasn’t a fan of High School Musical.

I will take it upon myself to declare that he in fact was a big supporter of HSM and owned multiple copies of the soundtracks >.>

If you want some degrees of Bowie, Bebu (prepare for a name drop that only people who are very interested in theatre know). I know the playwright Enda Walsh, through my former drama teacher. I don’t have a phone number but I have talked to him a few times after productions of his shows, so naturally, I consider myself to be BFFs with him….

As I’m sure you know one of the last things Bowie completed before he died were the lyrics and music for Enda’s play ‘Lazarus’.

Therefore, I know someone who knew David Bowie, and you knowing me, means you know someone, who knows someone, who worked with David Bowie.

The world is magical, man.

Fun fact: my degrees of Kevin Bacon is 4.
