I’m looking forward to seeing Shazam on Saturday with a big tub of popcorn. Looks fun and charming. Gotta love the weekend.

I watched quite a lot of Shazam during my shift yesterday, it was pretty entertaining and a refreshing take on the superhero genre which has been getting rather tired over the last few years.
For those who liked Wigwam’s post about Larry, I’m sure you’ll be delighted to know that Downing Street has a long history of Chief Mousers, all of which have extensive wikipedia pages dedicated to them. Here’s the one for Humphrey, who was resident for almost a decade from 1988 to 1997.

he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

Saw Shazam today……..Light hearted and enjoyable……..Especially when compared to my joke……..
Two cowboys go into a saloon…..
One called ‘Past’ and the other ‘Present’
It was tense

I only realized last week that Shazam and Captain Marvel are two completely different films! After which I did a bit of reading about the convoluted history of the character(s)…

I was a comic nut……
Taught me to read.
Collected Superman/boy/girl……Batman, JLA, Green lantern et all But I got into DC in late fifties early sixties….Which was too late.
Marvel however had just really kicked off…
Bought the 1st Spiderman, (before he had his own bespoke comic), Ironman, Thor, X men, Hulk, Daredevil, Avengers, Sgt Fury’s Howling Commandos, (had a stereotypical Englishman in it called Percival Pinkerton who carried an umbrella called a bumbershoot, but better than nothing……), SHEILD,…..and so on.
Some years back I saw a tv programme about these comics and their value. A presenter said, We’re going to spend 1 $million in one minute’ and he held up to the camera, one at a time 10 comics ……..Gulping I remembered that in a puberty induced adolescent fit of, ‘it’s time to put away childish things’ I’d thrown out 8 of them.

That’s the way it goes, I suppose. I wonder how many things we each throw away that will one day in the future become exceedingly valuable. I have a few LPs that are pretty valuable, so I’m certainly not getting rid of those, but I wonder if CDs or paper books will be next in that line.
It makes one kick themselves in annoyance and regret, but then, what’s the alternative? I think some people hoard all their possessions for that very reason, but they end up with a cluttered house and often a cluttered soul obsessed with materialism.

This video just showed up in my youtube recommended section… John McCain, who ran against Obama in 2008, responding to one of his supporters saying some very offensive things about Obama. The way he responds is perfect – so classy and respectful. I have my share of problems with both McCain and Obama but this video really made me smile.

Comic Sans, Helvetica, and Times New Roman walk into a bar.
‘
Get out!’ screams the bartender, ‘We don’t serve your type in here.’

Prince Charles is visiting the US…..He’s walking down a New York alley wearing a Savile Row double breasted suit and a white stetson ….to fit in.
A prostitute calls out an invitation and a price ‘$500.’
Charles tips his hat politely like he’d seen the cowboys do and jokes, ‘$5’
Next day same thing happens……She asks $500 Charles tips his hat and mumbles ‘$5.’
The next day he’s walking with Camilla and sees the same prostitute……He thinks, ‘Oh my word! This could be embarrassing. What will she say?’
The prostitute calls out……’D’ya get change from the $5?’

I managed to find a way to write about my daily music-choosing process in my ethics paper, and that makes me happy*. (I’ll work in a subtle flex about what I actually listen to, if I can — stay tuned… )
*As happy as I can be whilst writing a paper, anyway — the listening certainly helps

Spent about two hours of a lovely spring evening sitting in a jungle of grass under a wild cherry tree, strumming my git-tar.
And then I had to go inside and do my maths homework, piper’s got to be paid sometime but at least I have nice Floyds to listen to and that makes it much nicer.

Sounds like a Led Zeppelin lyric! You just need a fine maiden and some orcs in there too

Hahaha exactly! My kid sister was there, she could count as the fine maiden (similar to ‘the girl who won my heart/ She is only three years old but it’s a real fine way to start’ in ‘The Ocean’, referencing Robert’s little daughter), and whilst I didn’t see any orcs, there was definitely a strong potential for fairies in that grass.
Hmmm, you’ve given me a song idea…

A friend of mine says he lives next door to some guy with Alzheimers
He says every morning the guy knocks on his door and asks if he’s, ‘seen his wife?’ So every morning he has to explain to his neighbour that his wife died 3 years ago…..
He’s thought about not answering the door, or lying to the guy…
But he says he loves seeing the big smile on the guy’s face when he tells him.
