Hey, a bop is a bop, no matter what we associate it with! (In my mind I’m always 12yo and roller skating at Wheelies when it plays)

It’s definitely one of my favorites. All of the Shreks after that were pretty weak, but Puss In Boots was actually pretty good.

Rewatching the Shreks as a teenager is a particular pleasure b/c then I finally get all the jokes that went over my head as a wee child.

I am 100% in favour of the various “Shreks” and “Guardians” and whatnot rehabilitating forgotten hits (so long as the songs don’t deserve forgetting)

I recently heard this song in the background of a scene in Mad Men, and it was instantly familiar.
Obviously I think I’m so cultured and thought maybe I’d discovered it in some of my wider listening of 60s music, maybe through a jazz playlist or something.
And then I realised, nope, it’s the music that plays when Shrek and Donkey first enter Duloc in the first film. (From about 0:22)

The Shrek films are great. Along with Kung Fu Panda I think they promote a really positive message of learning to love yourself as you are.
Also, I gotta link this video… it’s interesting content anyway but honestly the fact that we live in a timeline where this sort of videos are produced is just, really hilarious to me.

I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

The Shrek films I find gradually get worse with the third being atrocious (the original is brilliant). I remember watching it at Easter and hating it more the longer it dragged on.

I actually agree, to me the first two Shrek films are phenomenal and the other two are kind of dense. I’ve always found an abismal fall in quality from the second to the third film, script-wise, it was just boring.

Like I said, the Puss in Boots spin off was good. Don’t believe me it you don’t want to, but I saw it in theatres

I believe you, it’s not the first time I’ve heard the opinion that “The Puss in Boots is underrated” but I’ve seen it as well and honestly…
… I wouldn’t say I like it either
