I like too many of his songs to list them all. But ones that stick out the most in my mind are New York New York, Angle Eyes, Funny Valentine, and I've Got You Under My Skin. (I like the duet with Bono of that song almost as much too.)

I haven't heard that one before. I've really only heard the ones on the Duets album. (Because it's the only actual Sinatra album I own.)

“Fly Me to the Moon”. Great song.
Interesting footnote: Bart Howard, the songwriter, was pressured by the know-it-all studio execs to change the opening to “Fly with me to the moon.” They thought his line was too openly sexual. Howard refused to change it and the song became a monster hit for Sinatra, and never failed to earn less than $50,000 per year for Howard in royalties.
Studio execs. Sheesh. I guess some things never change.

After the Beatles released “Something ” in 1969, Sinatra said it was the greatest love song of the last 50 years.

I have all the Sinatra albums from the 1950's which is my favorite period for him. All were released on Capitol Records.
Also, You are correct about 'Something '. Sinatra really loved that song. Also FYI, 'Here Comes The Sun ' is still number one download on iTunes and 'Something ' has now moved into the Top 10. It's great to see George with two Top Ten songs.

Ok shoot me if you want, but I'm not that fond of Frank Sinatra. He's great yeah, but to me, he's Dad's music. he and Agustin Lara are the greatest singers alive… that I was forced to listen when all I wanted was to listen to the Beatles.
But after watching Space Cowboys with 2 of my all time favorite actors (Tommy Lee Jones and Clint Eastwood), Fly me to the Moon grew on me. My Way was my Mom's favorite song, so I like that one too.

I agree with you mith, Frank is an incredible singer, but doesn't have enough soul for me. I'll take Nat King Cole in a heartbeat over Frank.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Nat King Cole …………………….. he's just AWESOME!! Have you heard him singing Boleros??
One day I woke up very early in a work day, and I turned on the TV. There was this story set in Hong Kong, with a woman with ethereal beauty dressed with amazing dresses and a man that reminded me so much of Richard Gere in his American Gigolo times.. and then bang! Aquellos Ojos Verdes sung by Nat King Cole in the background. I couldn't go back to sleep. I didn't finish watching that movie because I had to go to work, but the first thing I did was to search “Chinese movie Nat King cole”. The answer was In the mood of Love. After work I went to Blockbuster, rented the movie, cried a lot and took my Dad's Nat King Cole's CD to listen all night.
That's how my love story with Wong Kar-Wai, Maggie Cheung and Tony Leung started. I've followed their careers since then.
(Sorry for derailing this!!)
Edit : I hadn't noticed until now that the moment in the movie when this song, Green Eyes is used, is perfect for that moment, because both characters become way too jealous of their spouses. Another reason to love this film.

I knew “fly me to the moon” because it's the ending theme of Neon Genesis Evangelion, one of the best anime series ever. They have lots of versions, this is one of them:
And like mithveaen, Sinatra is Dad's music to me too…
I'd like to say "thank you" on behalf of the group and ourselves and I hope we passed the audition.

Is there really anything wrong with our parents music? If it wasn't for my parents I wouldn't even like the Beatles. So I'm glad that my parents introduced me to their music. Otherwise I wouldn't be who I am today.

Eh… No, it's not true. Beatles is my music even if they split five years before I was born. I can hear Beethoven or J. S. Bach talking to me through music, different things Bach is talking about the beauty of the platonic ideal world, Beethoven about the blood running through my veins.
Sinatra can't tell me anything about my life as Beatles do. That's the difference between classic and dad's music.

I wouldn't have said it better. We experience life in a diferent way, so we react differently to music.
Now this is a very funny clip that maybe you Sinatra fans will find.. very insulting. LOL!! But he's Pedro Infante. If there's someone bigger than the Beatles in Mexico.. that's him.
Now, I have a beautiful memory with this song. My Mom was turning 50, and she felt she was in the top of the Everest. She asked me to play this song again and again while she was singing the lyrics in Spanish. (It was weird. She knew the lyrics in Spanish and every time she listened the song with Sinatra, she would sing it in perfect synchrony with him)
She was preparing food because all the family was going to get together to celebrate her birthday. She was radiant. She even asked me to buy some sidra. And I asked her “Mom, why are you so happy?” and she answered “Well, because I have this beautiful house, and I have beautiful children with a very good decent man. What else can I ask for?” and she hugged me.
And this was the Spanish version my Mom knew. It's the great Raphael.

Au contraire, mon petit frere! If you want the best city in the world, you need to go to San Francisco. Tony Bennett all the way!
It is kind of funny that this conversation is happening, because I remember a friend of mine and I were once having a conversation about which “older persons” music we liked the best, and I went with Tony Bennett.
