Another fab day to be a Man U fan.A great stat from the BBC which is quite incredible to see.
I just don’t know what to say any more. Most of us predicted this months ago – the board and owners appear not to care even though the value of the club will slide dramatically when we miss out on the Champion’s League again. I have no idea what they are doing. The second Mourinho became available they should have nabbed him – nothing could be worse than what we are seeing now.
I’m hoping maybe they have Pep lined up – but have an awful sinking feeling it might be Giggs – who is just not ready for the immense task at hand.

I can imagine it gets embarrassing. The trouble with Jose is the doctor’s lawsuit. He was either going to be grabbed quick, or else clubs would wait to see if he’s found personally culpable. If he is found personally culpable, and Chelsea are found guilty for backing him and not the doctor, it does make him rather toxic, and a manager who needs proper managing.
I don’t think a club will touch him now until the tribunal decides in favour of him or the doctor. And from the moment it happened on the first day, I thought he was wrong, and kept getting it more and more wrong.

I honestly thought that when the last CL spot started to slide into the distance that the board might do something to save the £’s but they seem to be happy at the moment to bumble into a 6th place finish and miss out on even a Europa League place so not to lose face in having appointed another disaster and spent 1/4 of a £b to be worse than they were 3 seasons ago.
Its hard to argue that the squad is any better than what Fergie left which was filled with duds such as Anderson and Nani and the aging past-it chronies that were Ferdinand and Vidic.
All the serious talk is that Pep is going to Man City; at this rate Man U will be going for Steve Bruce to bring together the dream Giggs/Bruce duo so to fire them into another top 7 finish next season.

So now we know Guardiola is headed to City, do we think it strengthens or weakens van Gaal’s position at United?

As I said a bit earlier – I have absolutely no idea what the board are doing or thinking these days. We have a squad lacking in numbers and yet bought no one – either because the owners have no money to spare or because LVG’s position is tenuous – either one being a cause for worry; if it’s tenuous why not sack him 2 months ago and let the new manager strengthen in the window?
I really wonder who they have in mind if they let his contract run until the end of next season.

I dont think Pep going to Man City makes any difference to LVG’s position as I think he’ll go in the summer (probably mutual agreement and both sides probably know at this time) and Pep had been lined up for City for months.
As for Man U’s transfer policy i seriously doubt a) there is anyone out there who is good enough to make a substantial impact on the team who would be available at a sensible fee (none of the big clubs will be looking to lose key players without massive amounts being asked) and b) they want to make more money available for the next boss and they’ve already blown £250m, why give LVG more to waste? Interesting tho that despite how depleted the squad already is Nick Powell has left on loan, not that he’s of any use.
Who knows why LVG hasnt gone already; can only presume that the board still have the confidence he will be able get them into the top 4, wither that or they dont want to give the job to Mourinho or Giggs in the interim and whoever they have lined up is currently managing elsewhere. Diego Simeone, boss at Atletico Madrid has been touted as ha Laurent Blanc (ex-player, currently in charge of PSG). Everyone who knows anything about football will be hugely surprised if LVG is still there next season.

Well, within a few days of Pep announcing he’s going to City, the BBC report that United have held talks with Jose’s people:
No agreement has been reached, and the club have made no comment, but negotiations have begun.
They also suggest that Pep’s move has been a factor:
The United hierarchy are thought to be keen to respond after Manchester City secured the services of coveted former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola earlier this week.
Myself, as I’ve said previously, I think with the Doctor’s personal case against him, he’s a risk until that’s settled. That could even be what the talks amount to, United saying that case needs sorting quickly, and wanting reassurances about no repeat. A manager who’s landed himself and his previous club an industrial tribunal has to be a risk.

A dire season has just gotten much worse; Man U lose 2 – 1 to FC Midtjylland away (second leg still to be played)
At what time do the Man U board grow a pair and act before the season goes from bad to downright hilariously abysmal.

They are well past the point where they should have done something, and I think we are at the abysmal after the loss to Midget Land.
No Champions League next season means the loss of significant sponsorship – maybe the financial hit will jog them in the goolies.

You wonder what depths Man U have to plummet to for LVG to be sacked. Up next the mighty Shrewsbury.
Murphy’s Law is LVG’s reasoning for tonights loss.

Well, we managed to win a couple of games with a bunch of kids, and in some style – albeit against 3rd-rate opposition. It was great to see us come back from 1-3 down on aggregate to win 6-3 overall.
Let’s see how we do against Arsenal and Liverpool in the Europa.

Yip, two good victories against two league one level oppositions (one of which didn’t attempt to do anything) and a kid who scored two goals being compared to Messi (yes it happened) but will most likely go the same way as Macheda.
All hail the Man U Revolution .

Rashford scores twice (maybe wanting to play for the club instead of wanting to earn £300k a week does makes a difference), Man U win.
Arsenal begin their yearly collapse by failing to beat one of the worst Man U sides in years.
The mighty Watford next.
The Revolution continues, all hail Louis.

Came across this, @meanmistermustard, and thought you might like it:
Lineker: “So Gordon, if you were English, what style would you play?”
Strachan: “If I was English I’d top myself.”

Strachan has a number of funny replies to the press over the years.
Reporter: “Gordon, do you think James Beattie deserves to be in the England squad?”
Strachan: “I don’t care, I’m Scottish.”
A few highlighting the stupid questions the media have a habit of asking.
Reporter: “You don’t take losing lightly, do you Gordon?”
?Strachan: “I don’t take stupid comments lightly either.”
Reporter: “This might sound like a daft question, but you’ll be happy to get your first win under your belt, won’t you?”
Strachan: “You’re right. It is a daft question. I’m not even going to bother answering that one. It is a daft question, you’re spot on there.”
Reporter: “Welcome to Southampton Football Club. Do you think you are the right man to turn things around?”
Strachan: “No. I was asked if I thought I was the right man for the job and I said: ‘No, I think they should have got George Graham because I’m useless.’”

I thought Man U played well for 44 minutes, the problem was Liverpool scored in the 45 minute and the contest was over. The death was the first leg and an atrociously embarrassing performance.
The positive is that being eliminated will further cement LVG leaving in the summer. Cannot for the life of me see you beating West Ham in the FA cup replay nor getting in the top four, even fifth place looks unlikely.

So, another dismal performance from Manchester United followed by the usual baffling comments from the manager.
I’m tempted to tell @Harrison7 and @Beatlebug that he thinks the Rolling Stones wrote Hey Jude and considers Gimme Shelter a Beatles song 😉
