England were the better team when Colombia’s tactics were to start a mass brawl, tho let’s not overlook Sterling(?) hitting out at the Colombian shortly after Henderson’s collapse (which should have been a red but the pathetic over-reaction more than likely got it reduced). Clattenberg claiming it was yet another injustice to England was brilliant in just how riled some are. England also surrounded the ref and were calling for VAR, an action slated by the English media, but let’s overlook all of that and go with how naughty the foreigners are.
It should also be noted that for all the time England were the better team they created very little from open play, all their threat being from set-pieces.
In extra-time England were done and played for penalties.
All credit for getting through but no team left should be too worried; Sweden are appalling going forward but very well set up defensively.
Final point. For all the rage re the first penalty on Harry Kane not being given v Tunisia, the day after the game the BBC slowed down the footage and showed a clear foul on one of the Tunisia defenders before Kane was pulled down. If VAR was utilised, the foul for Tunisia would have been given and it still wouldn’t have been a penalty. The BBC presenter (not Linekar) even said there was a foul by the England player. But let’s not let that get in the way, far easier to claim great injustices.

Five minutes of the BBC or ITV coverage of England and you’re supporting the opposition.
It’s the only thing Irish TV does better than the British is sports coverage. BBC/ITV are up their own holes whereas RTÉ/TG4 actually admit if Ireland is playing crap (which quite a lot of the time we are), and slag our players (and other nations’ players of course). Sometimes they’re quite witty as well, which is a bonus.

Point is though, they have VAR this time
wonder how the new VAR implementation would’ve handled this situation:

I’m out tomorrow watching ‘Yellow Submarine ‘ then thankfully working all Monday and Tuesday. Only, therefore, have to avoid clicking on all football reports, news coverage and all post and pre-match discussions on Wednesday until 7:45pm to avoid the sycophantic garbage being spouted by anyone who is English. It wouldn’t be so bad if they remained composed and balanced but going by the BBC’s coverage today the whole of the UK are desperate for England to win it yet most of Scotland is not.
I do think they will reach the final tho.
If they win the final expect a Scottish ban on all English tv coverage for at least 450 years and a call for a Scottish Independence referendum approved, held, successful and us to have left the UK by a week Thursday.

But mmm
SHE’S COMING HOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
As a supporter of Germany, I had very few occasions to wear my Schweinsteiger jersey (come back Schweini).
If England wins I would be happy to donate money to move the island of Ireland (and Scotland and Wales if they wish) to move the countries out into the middle of the Atlantic for the next 4 years.
I’m currently rooting for France to win (allez les Bleus!).

I don’t mind football coming home but it comes into my home, raids the fridge, eats the best of what’s in there, drinks the Irn Bru, sits in my chair and and puts it’s feet up whilst I’m told I should be honoured and need to go shopping for Pringles.

There is currently an active campaign to kick Northern Ireland off the island and invite Croatia to take its place. I for one welcome the idea, especially as today is Orangeman’s Day (bloody Unionists) .
Just to put the page slightly off topic, one of the stupid Unionists’ bonfires collapsed, I was delighted.

About to kick off, England vs. USA World Cup semi-final. The US team may be the best team in the world at the moment, and England are definite underdogs, but I think we’ve got a confidence about us that means we could do it. And, strangely, the US have left their lead goal-scorer, Megan Rapinoe, on the bench.
Go you Lionesses!!! Show the men how to make a World Cup Final!!!

Watched it with my dad, and after the big build up all week, you just knew it would end in disappointment for England. I called it before the game kicked off.
But that pales into insignificance after the news that the Italian authorities have found the body of the missing Swiss player in the lake. Awful news. She was only 24. RIP

Once again England fails to get to a final and once again it is a massive pleasure to watch due to the insane media overindulgence in forcing it down our throats just how spiffing it would be for humankind if the mighty brave heroic Englanders were to win.
The Women’s World Cup only proved that Scotland will forever be able to find new and unique ways to completely self-implode and snatch a magnificent defeat when victory is so close and that England will start as unlikely winners, be built up by the media to almost certain winners during the competition and then lose.
The balance works when you’re a Scot.
