Only right. Peanuts rocks.
The closing ceremony got better after Kylie came on and thankfully the worst section of the event didnt come from the Scots (and man some of our stuff was atrocious), Australia took that with their horrendous Gold Coast promo and Jessica Mauboy who mimed two songs, one being about anything being possible which had many people pointing out that singing obviously wasnt.

About to watch the Christmas episode of Doctor Who in light of the new series starting tomorrow. Cant say i’m that enthused by it but feel i should be clued in to Peter Capaldi’s entrance. Strange seeing adverts for shows that were broadcast 9 months ago.

And it’s even more weird because it’s not Christmas! Seriously, what channel is it on?
@thisbirdhasflown, i sky+’d it when it was first screened at Christmas; never watched it at the time, forgot about it for a couple of months and then after remembering it was there decided to wait until the new series was to air. Its probably been repeated a few times since then.
Considering how bad the last series got its actually pretty good. Nowhere near the heights of the Christopher Eccleston and early David Tennent era’s but better than most since.

Same problem hit the end of the episode as it did most of the last series, sentimental romanticism hogwash. Honestly hoping Peter Capaldi comes in and all that guff is thrown out and he gets back to having a bit of an edge to the Doctor and bins all googly eyes with Clara.

Just watched some documentary about Britpop. It was on a German channel, and as they never use subtitles, god damn them, and overdub everything I had a bit of a hard time understanding it all. Even though German sounds a lot like Dutch, it’s by far not the same language, and it’s really difficult. It was pretty interesting and good though.

“Psych”, season 8 — so far (after the first four episodes), it’s remarkably as good as, if not better than, the preceding seven seasons.
Usually in my experience, series I like tend to morph and mutate by the final season into something that has lost the je ne sais quoi of what in retrospect turns out to be its “golden period” somewhere in its middle years (to pluck one example from a hat, The Simpsons, which amazingly is still running after 25 seasons (it began in 1989), but which has disappointed me in its latter decade — it’s “golden age” was in the mid to late 90s, and thereafter it slowly but surely lost its charm).

FXX is running every Simpsons episode ever on their network in a marathon they’ve got going, all 552 (!) of them. It started a few days ago, so I think they’re on Season 11 as of now…

If they’ve got to season 11 then its very timely since its the end of the weekend and the quality of episodes nosedived around season 8, folk can go to work and not miss anything or waste their time on a show that has gone on for about 10 years past its sell by date. Once unmissable now unwatchable.

True, a couple of alright episodes up until season 20, then it just became a parody of its former glory. Now it relies on celebrity guest-voices to carry the episodes and now they are killing off a major character for the season premiere (?), I believe…yikes.
It also looks weird in HD now- I miss the slight grittiness of the old episodes but not use complaining now it has dug its grave and all it needs to do is jump in *whistles ‘One Foot in the Grave theme’*

Doctor Who was great last night. The story could’ve been a bit better, but it was kind of secondary to the introduction of the new Doctor, who I think was absolutely fantastic. I’m betting he’ll be fantastic.
Though MATT SMITH CAME BACK!!!! He’ll always be my Doctor, and I absolutely loved his small part.
Anyway, I thought it was pretty great. Also, Strax is hilarious.
Also, I’m back!
