I just finished Arrested Development which I found out about via a friend’s recommendation. If you like The Office US or Parks And Recreation, you’ll probably find it amusing. I recommend watching it, but only to season 3. Season 4 is a Netflix original that revisits the characters after the show. It’s okay, but nowhere near as good as the actual show.

I’m a pretty big David Lynch fan
Blue Velvet is one of my favorite films. I haven’t watched the new season yet, but I loved the first season of the original show. The second got a little bit self indulgent with the town relationships and high school drama. How is the latest season?

I’m currently kind of watching two shows on Netflix. I have started watching 13 reasons why, but I’m only at episode 4. An episode is nearly an hour long for christ sake. And then I’m also watching Orphan Black with my parents, which is pretty good (but after watching a couple of episodes of something, I’d probably watch anything. My mom would watch Dallas and I’d sit next to her all annoyed, would look at the tv every Now And Then and after 3 episodes I would be looking forward to the next one).

Yeah Blue Velvet is an amazing movie! The new series is amazing so far but it does require a lot of patience. It’s actually far stranger and Lynchian then the first and second series. So far it deserves its place in the Twin Peaks canon.
I agree about the second series, unfortunately the big reveal (I won’t spoil it for anyone who hasn’t seen it) kinda ruined it. It really picked up with the last 7 or so episodes though.

Currently watching The Goodies! I’m up to Series 4 ATM, but my favourite episodes so far have been Give Police A Chance*, followed by Double Trouble.
*I obviously like it because of the John reference in the title, but I also like Bill Oddie’s song that plays while the Goodies go about as hippie policemen.

I am currently enjoying the BBC’s Cunk on Britain, where the feather-brained Philomena Cunk (played by the brilliant Diane Morgan) explores British history in the age of Brexit. Very funny, and having watched the second episode tonight, it seems there’s going to be a shot of The Beatles toward the beginning of each episode as being among the most famous people we’ve produced. Can’t wait to see her take on them when it gets to that part of the history.
Here is the first episode:

I’m a massive fan of the Blacklist starring James Spader. Anyone else watch it?
I enjoyed the first 3 seasons, but found the latest to get quickly into a grind of too much complexity and too much kinetic action, and not enough of the character relationships where James Spader really shone. I stopped watching without even finishing the first episode. I suspect maybe a change of writers.

My favorite show of late has been “Better Call Saul”. I can’t remember being as enthralled with a show in many years. I’ve only seen 3 seasons to date. Its consistently high quality could start to peter out in subsequent seasons (as happens to some good shows, including its “parent” show, Breaking Bad, which I thought devolved into a less interesting, needlessly bleak juggernaut of unrelieved tragedy by its 5th season); but so far, I see no signs of that.

I’ve been watching Lie to Me, it’s really good. It’s about this guy who can tell when people’s lying and solve crimes and stuff. It has good characterisation and plots, plus the main dude has a British accent, which is a big pro for me.

Thanks, Father Mac, I’ll definitely check it out! My mum will be happy to here that, too, she has a major thing for Tim Roth.
