Ah. I have a few of those. Currently watching ‘Humans’ on channel 4 which is interesting enough to have on when using the laptop, if not i’d be bored with 10 minutes. It really could have been 6 episodes instead of 8 and cut out the fat.

“How would some lions over power humans?” – Perhaps you missed the part where I wrote; There are many lions…many, many lions.
Then biowarfare. Use a mutated virus that attacks Lions then shoot the few that become immune.
You have much to learn about writing TV shows, movies etc…, Grasshopper.
If they did that, the show’s history would have amounted to just 15 minutes. It’s similar to the end of the Lord Of The Rings trilogy where the giant eagle rescued Frodo and Sam. Zag & I thought, “for Christ’s sake, why didn’t they just ride the eagle to Mount Doom and drop the ring into it?!?!” If they did that, the film would have been a short instead of a blockbuster series.

ZOO is a show based on the James Patterson novel of the same name. I haven’t read the novel. Here is a blurb from the CBS website – no spoilers, just the premise.ZOO is a global thriller about a wave of violent animal attacks against humans sweeping the planet. James Wolk will play Jackson Oz, a young, renegade American zoologist who spends his days running safaris in the wilds of Africa when he begins noticing the strange behavior of the animals. As the assaults become more cunning, coordinated and ferocious, he is thrust into the race to unlock the mystery of the pandemic before there’s no place left for people to hide.
Basically, after all this time of man being on the top of the food chain, the animals (wild and domesticated) have decided “enough is enough” and start exacting their revenge all over the world. We’ve watched the first two episodes and have the third one recorded. This show is très creepy.
So it’s kind of like The Birds with a few alligators thrown in for good measure?
Or lions – some Cecil B. De Mille type stuff??
That begins to describe it, yes. But there are more than just lions and alligators and birds (oh my). This show is very well written – Hitchcockian with its creepiness, despair, horror, etc… Every hour-long episode flies by – no dull moments. We are hooked on it.

I probably have a bias against James Patterson. I read some of his books and didn’t like them.

I know what you mean Ad40. It’s hit or miss with him. When I was in to reading fiction, I read some of his books – some were great, others not so much. I haven’t read any of his stuff (including ZOO) for a long time.

I was looking for something to watch and I found several Magnum P.I. DVDs in my collection. I have them all, but I have misplaced many of them so I can’t start seeing the whole Magnum series until I find them all. But I have such a craving for that old TV show. Anybody here seen it? Do you remember Magnum saying “Hey guys!” to Rick and T.C.? Or Higgins saying “Oh-my-God !”, or “Zeus, Apollo, patrol!”? Those guys, back in the eighties, were like family to me, like friends –more “real” than some pompous jerks I had to work with. Are there any Magnum fans in the Forum?

oudis,
I never got into it. I have tried a couple of episodes, but it seems kind of boiler-plate formulaic, but maybe I should give it another chance, because I think Selleck is an underrated actor. Speaking of which, have you seen his most recent series, Bluebloods? Excellent use of his acting talent (and a fine ensemble of other actors, too).

Agreed. We enjoy his work in Westerns, particularly those based on Louis L’Amour’s books. He is also fantastic in the made-for-TV Jesse Stone movie series. I did not watch a lot of prime time TV in the 80’s, so I never watched Magnum.

Why is it that the bigger a tv show gets the more its shoved down your throat and hyped to the heavens? ‘The Great British Bake-Off’ is back on tv soon and its a fun, enjoyable 45 minutes or so (after you’ve skipped the recap and boring segments like “who made the first apple pie?”). For the first handful of series on BBC 2 it quietly grew a very large audience; however over the last year or two (certainly since it moved to BBC1) the BBC have started to ram it down our throats so fast and frequently we’re in danger of it coming out of our eyeballs and every other part of our bodies?

I’ve only seen him as Magnum or Jesse Stone. I’ll have to check Bluebloods and his Westerns. Magnum P.I. is indeed formulaic as a thriller but that’s not the point: the key is its sense of humor, all the jokes and the relationship between the characters.

@Oudis , if you don’t mind a recommendation, I suggest starting with The Sacketts and The Shadow Riders. Sam Elliott co-stars in both – I feel those two complement each other perfectly.

Aye, I saw the ad for it today while enjoying a Simpsons’ episode.
Probably won’t watch it though.

I’ll tape it and then watch it back skipping thru the adverts.Which Simpsons episode’?
Anything after series 9 does not exist, its all fabrication and a mind trick.
Sky 1 are doing a Simpsons marathon every day for the past week or two.
It was a season 5 episode and (one of my favourites), ‘Boy-Scoutz ‘n The Hood’- I will forever love that scene inspired by ‘Deliverance’ with the ‘Dueling Banjos’ and the giggling shadows.
