I’ve been catching up on some of the newer episodes of Big Bang Theory. Not as funny as it used to be, but not bad for such a long-running show.
As some of you know I rarely watch TV, this is only the second show I am watching regularly now (after that crazy Chinese dating show I sometimes watch on weekends).

The previous season (or whatever the one where Raj speaks at the end without alcohol help is) was dreadful, the latest one has picked up but isn’t anywhere near as good as the earlier series. Its another show i watch whilst doing stuff on the laptop.

At the minute I’m on a bit of a Gordon Ramsey’s kitchen nightmares (Both UK and USA versions) binge.
Most other shows I love watching include The Simpsons, The IT Crowd, Peep Show, Russell Howard’s good news, Mock the week (and various other panel/quiz shows), Drunk History, Spongebob, Adventure Time, Murdoch Mysteries and a UK prank show containing elderly people pranking the public called off their rockers.
I recently discovered a teenage girls channel in the UK that replay the Sabrina the Teenage Witch series. Awesome!

Wow – I am a big fan of the show – I hope this run is better than the final season (especially the season finale).

Has anyone caught the new The Odd Couple?
We are huge fans of the original movie and TV series, so were a bit leary about this new series. Only 4 episodes so far, but it is funny. We were relieved that they are not rehashing old story lines or jokes. The only exception was in the first episode, they paid homage to the movie and original TV series with the lines…
Oscar (to Felix): “You leave me little notes. I told you I can’t stand little notes! ‘We are all out of Corn Flakes. -F.U.’ It took me three hours to figure out that ‘F.U.’ was Felix Unger!”

So erm..I have been following The Voice UK. I think it’s less cringeworthy than The Voice Of Holland, has better coaches and they’re just way nicer to the contestants.
And I have absolutely no idea what happened to Ricky Wilson, but all of a sudden he’s so nice to look at (okay he already looked like that when I saw the Kaiser Chiefs live 1.5 years ago but still, major make over!)

The Voice is a strange programme. It gets decent reviews and ratings at the beginning where the chairs spin round yet as soon as that gimmick goes the whole premise of the show falls apart as it becomes a routine singing show, most of the viewers switch off, it gets savaged by the press, and the winner reaches #248 in the charts before never being heard of again until the beginning of the next series for one night only to remind the world who actually won last year. So the strange thing is how it gets recommissioned.

Yeah I must say it’s getting gradually worse after the first round. The judges have made some strange choices. A lot of times I’ve been thinking ”eh..but the other one was clearly better, what the feck”.
The chart thing is strange. When you win a talentshow like that over here you’re almost guaranteed a #1 spot in the charts. Oh, and often it’s already clear who will win as early as the Battle round.

If you win the X-Factor you’re pretty much guaranteed the Christmas #1, if you win The Voice your pretty much guaranteed to be singing on a cruise ship within 3 weeks. Nobody cares who wins the show, they just want to see a chair spin round.
Personally speaking any show with Will.I.Am should be avoided like a Miley Cyrus album.

@Ron Nasty, I see that the first title is available to watch in the BBC app for 22 more days. I can watch it when I get to the UK. Thanks for the heads-up!
I will check on the other title now.

I always thought Friends began to fade when Monica started dating Chandler. She became an old dull moany bag whilst he became unfunny. Same as with many comedies in that they get poorer the longer they go on as they run out of ideas of where to take the show without making major changes to the characters (which has to happen unless its the Simpsons which is just utter crap nowadays).

I do see what you mean @meanmistermustard . Chandler was my favorite before he married Monica and then it’s true that he wasn’t as funny anymore. My favorite episodes are in the first few seasons, but it doesn’t change the fact that you get really attached to the characters after 10 seasons (even Ross, though he annoys me) and it’s really sad to see it end.

Totally. I think CSI is nowhere close to how good it was under Grissom but it looks like it wont be getting a new series and its sad as it was once such a great show. However Nick is going (im in the UK so it hasnt happened yet) and Grissom, Catherine, Brass and Warrick have all left (the less said about Ray the better). DB Russell is great however, saving a show that had become pretty awful.
