I have to agree: It’s a very cool special as it goes through several harsh environments in South America: the jungle, the hills (and the treacherous El Camino de la Muerte “Death Road”), the Andes mountains, and the Atacama (the hottest environment on Earth) in four old beat-up off-road SUVs. I like the part where Jeremy rams into the back back of James and James is about ready to take him out with a machete!!!

Yeah my favourite part would be where they journey along the death road and at the end, when James and Richard haven’t turned up yet, Jeremy holds a memorial service for them. I just love the humor of Top Gear.
So what’s your favourite special?

One of my favorites is the “Source of the Nile” special. I love how when James finds the puddle at the end, he gets his picture taken with Jeremy and Richard, and the caption reads “James May, the discoverer of the true source of the nile….and two other blokes”! They work together really well!

‘Top Gear’ is a great programme until they go far in staging parts of it and it becomes blatantly over the top and ridiculous. Am really looking forward to the Festive Special as always but this year there is a hardcore Beatle reference with Patagonia (“She catch Patagonian Pancake”).

Maybe good, or at least interesting news (news?); I just found out that there is a new version of The Prisoner, the 1967-1968 British production with Patrick McGoohan. It was made in 2009 and its cast includes the great Ian McKellen and Jim Caviezel in the main role. Many of you might say that this is no news at all but I’m eager to watch it and compare it with the original… Has anybody here seen it?

@Oudis A very pale imitation of the original. It was made for British TV (with US involvement). Like most remakes – and we get too many – it was garbage. Dreadful, dreadful, dreadful!

Well @Ron Nasty, I feared somebody would say that –something told me it could never match the original. I won’t bother with it then. Thanks.

I’ve recently started watching Broadchurch. I’m on the 5th episode (and I’ve already had it spoiled for me, damn it). Absolutely fantastic. There’s an American remake too, but I have no plans to watch it. It’s almost definitely horrible.

The UK ‘Broadchurch’ was excellent having just finished watching it on catch-up yesterday. I had no idea who did it having missed the entire series and all the discussion first time round. Second series starts tomorrow (Monday 1st January).

Oh, I just remembered I want to see Galavant. I’ve heard good things about it.
Edit: Watching now. The opening theme song rhymes “adventure” with “a real butt-clencher.” I’m in.

This addresses the “are watching right now” aspect of this thread more than the “favorites you’ve watched” aspect.
I’m watching Elvis’ ’68 Comeback Special right now because it’s Elvis’ birthday. I’ve actually never seen it before. I wanted to watch something Elvis-related, but I didn’t want to watch one of the crummy movies that he acted in and all the documentaries that I could find were the lousy unofficial ones that don’t even bother to get the rights to use any of his music. The music in the ’68 Special is pretty good. I’ve only heard a couple songs from the album based on the special before.

I’m still hardly watching any TV and not missing it much, though I was channel-flipping the other night and caught an interesting documentary where this chap was exploring underneath Wales (cave systems, old dungeons, mines and the like).
