A friend posted this scene on FB featuring the villain of a TV novela called Maria la del Barrio. I don’t understand what’s going on, but it’s epic. All that over a kiss?
Edit: Found a YouTube video:
It prompted me to look up more featuring this character, and I found a superclip of all the times Soraya Montenegro yelled “¡Largate!” aka “Get out!”

I found the official clip on youtube and put on the subtitles to find out what they were saying. Weird experience as some of the words on screen where “law of Pele”, “artibrate” and “the complex of German”. One line comes back as “i will give you beating who you will not forget or eaten ortigazo and Farias”.
Would be cool if those where right.

I liked “Weeds” for the first three seasons, but it got old, a bit hackneyed with the formula, and the snarky ‘tude of cheeky insouciance kind of wears thin after the 1000th time it beats you over the head with it.
As for “Walking Dead”, I invite anyone to scroll back to my comment about it somewhere back…
“Madmen” is solidly entertaining and superbly written, directed and acted — if a bit tendentiously smug in its politically correct conceit.

Doing some tedious work on the computer so I went browsing through Hulu’s British comedies. I’m watching Horrible Histories. It’s not so much a comedy as a humorous take on history. But horrible it most certainly is… a lot more focus on bodily functions than I would prefer. But it’s like a train wreck, I can’t turn it off.

The books are brilliant, read them when I was 8-12ish- they are what got me interested in history!

A while ago I started a thread about our personal preferences (favorite non-Beatle song) and it had zero replies. But I’m stubborn, here you have another (similar) thread: your favorite TV shows/series/sitcoms. Feel free to post if you find it interesting and you want to share.
Here is my list, in no particular order:
- Kung Fu (Kwai Chang Caine was my childhood hero)
- Star Trek (the original; I’m still a Trekkie, after all these years)
- Night Gallery (with the unforgettable Rod Serling; scared the bejesus outta me when I was a child)
- Magnum P.I. (saw it in my teens, loved his Ferrari, his cigars, his beers, his gang of buddies)
- The X Files (saw the whole series again recently and I have to admit I still fancy Agent Dana Scully)
- Miami Vice (loved the double life of Sonny Crockett/Sonny Burnett, the fashion, the music, the atmosphere)
- Sherlock Holmes (the 1984-1994 British series with Jeremy Brett as the perfect gentleman-detective)
- Lost (almost a masterpiece, almost perfect)
- The Sopranos (its first season is a masterpiece, the whole of it is awesome, and James Gandolfini was superb and showed all his acting range)
- Dexter (who can claim they don’t have a dark side?)
- The Big Bang Theory (just because it reminds me of all the geeks and nerds I met while doing my post-graduate studies –and it reminds me of myself to a certain extent!)

I’ve merged @Oudis’s “Favourite TV Shows’ thread (the two above posts were as far as it got) to here, there is no need for two tv threads covering the same kind of topic (part of the BB 2014 clean-up was to bring together all the various separated tv/movie/games threads together).
Oudis, do you know where you’re favourite non-Beatles thread is, is that the title? I’m always rediscovering songs i’ve forgotten about and love and that thread sounds ideal.

Hello @meanmistermustard, here is the link to my lonely thread, and thank you:

But I must tell you that asking “Watching any good shows?” is different from asking about your favorite TV shows, in my humble opinion.
Respectfully yours,
Oudis

Kind of yes but it was thought a while back by the mods not to have a handful of tv, film, games threads going about, that one would be sufficient for each different medium. Would it be better/more helpful to folk if we amended the thread title to something more inclusive of all areas of tv?

@meanmistermustard
That’s an idea –like “Favorite TV shows you’ve watched/are watching”? My original idea wasn’t to tell what we were watching these days, but to pick ten of our favorite series of all time. The same thing happened with a thread about movies I posted, I think; it was merged and my original idea was lost.

The trouble with lists and games is that they generally don’t lead to conversation, i’m not a huge fan of lists personally for that reason. And please note the mods don’t merge things lightly or to dampen anyone’s ideas or input to the forum, we simply try to ensure the ongoing fun, peace and exchange of dialogue on the forum as well as trying to keep things organised and on track. Apologies if that was to the detriment of one of your threads, it was never intended to kill it.

I’m watching more TV than I had been in a while. It helps that more shows are being offered on free Hulu. So right now of the new shows, I’m watching Gotham, Jane the Virgin, Black-ish, Marry Me and Mulaney.
I was pleasantly surprised that I ended up liking Gotham. I don’t love it, but I like it, particularly Jada Pinkett Smith’s character. I went to taping of Mulaney, as John Mulaney is my favorite comedian right now and I got to meet him afterward. I don’t think the show is going to last, however. The writing’s pretty corny and the direction is slow. I hope he bounces back quickly if it does get canceled.

With Hulu and sites like that, past shows are now often available for viewing. Thus, I think a combined idea of past and present shows is a good idea. Bringing past shows to people’s attention may lead someone to watch and enjoy them.
{Combining the past and the present…sounds like a recipie for a McCartney or Ringo concert.}
Back on topic, I think that the idea of past shows will get more traction in a combined thread like this with a new topic title than being in a separate thread. Perhaps people will even talk about how a current show reminds them of a past show.
We will amend post #1 of this thread and put @Oudis’s list in it and make a note about the broadened theme of the thread.
EDIT: I amended post #1 and changed the topic title.
