Beatles in the Blood started the thread off with:
I’m not sure if there’s a topic like this, but nothing came up in the advaced search so.
What are you watching these days? I’m currently hooked on a show called Duck Dynasty, that show is so funny Jack, it makes me happy, happy, happy (pretend I’m sticking my thumbs up.)
A conversation about older shows was brought into the mix for an expanded discussion.

Here is my list, in no particular order:
- Kung Fu (Kwai Chang Caine was my childhood hero)
- Star Trek (the original; I’m still a Trekkie, after all these years)
- Night Gallery (with the unforgettable Rod Serling; scared the bejesus outta me when I was a child)
- Magnum P.I. (saw it in my teens, loved his Ferrari, his cigars, his beers, his gang of buddies)
- The X Files (saw the whole series again recently and I have to admit I still fancy Agent Dana Scully)
- Miami Vice (loved the double life of Sonny Crockett/Sonny Burnett, the fashion, the music, the atmosphere)
- Sherlock Holmes (the 1984-1994 British series with Jeremy Brett as the perfect gentleman-detective)
- Lost (almost a masterpiece, almost perfect)
- The Sopranos (its first season is a masterpiece, the whole of it is awesome, and James Gandolfini was superb and showed all his acting range)
- Dexter (who can claim they don’t have a dark side?)
- The Big Bang Theory (just because it reminds me of all the geeks and nerds I met while doing my post-graduate studies –and it reminds me of myself to a certain extent!)

I love this. Especially the Tina Fey as Sarah Palin cracks. Any other fans?

I am. I've been watching SNL for about 3 years or so. Tina Fey is amazing as Sarah Palin. I love when they do presidential election spoofs. That's where SNL gets its momentum. The Digital Shorts are great. I love Andy Samberg and the Lonely Island.
Lately, I've been watching the episodes from the 1970s. If anyone has Netflix, full episodes of the first 5 seasons from the '70s are up (at least they are on the PS3) . There are is some good material from those seasons as well as comedians. Seasons from the '80s and '90s are up as well but it's not full episodes.
Well we all shine on like the moon, the stars, and the sun.

Since I’m in school, I’ve had to limit my TV intake. Right now the essentials are comedies/humorous – Jon Stewart, Archer, Happy Endings, Saturday Night Live.
I was watching the britcom Mongrels on Hulu, but that got canned. But I’m caught up on Misfits.

I don’t watch TV anymore. I just rent or stream DVDs of shows, mostly cable. Man, the memories of watching all those hours of excellent dramatic and comedic programming!
Like:
Monk
Lost
Burn Notice
Curb Your Enthusiasm
The Sopranos
Entourage
The Wire
Deadwood
Madmen
Weeds
Californication
And more I can’t think of right now…
Right now, I’m catching up on the 5th season of Madmen, which I never got around to seeing way back when.

I watch Q.I. a lot, absolutely love it, though I’m not Stephen Fry’s biggest fan. I don’t know if they’ve taken that over to other countries.
And I love Misfits too (I saw someone else mention that upthread), haven’t watched it for ages though.
I don’t watch many other tv programmes. It’s all a bit rubbish at the moment.

I never miss “Mad Men” or “Breaking Bad” when they’re on, which are only 3 months of the year apiece. Aside from those two and NHL hockey games (Toronto Maple Leafs during the season, all teams during playoff season) there’s not much on broadcast TV I really need to see, although I also enjoy “Bob’s Burgers” and the declining “How I Met Your Mother ” (which I’m glad is ending next year.)

I like that Jimmy Kimmel bit where he has a couple of black hip hop or rap artists sitting next to him, and behind the curtain hidden from view there are several individuals who will each play a bit of drums or bass or guitar — and the black guests have to guess whether they’re white or black.
So far, the guests have never been wrong.

Unless its sport i tend to sky+ and then watch back when in the mood: hate adverts and nowadays most programmes start late with endless trailers having to play out first therefore i can skip thru.
Shows i deliberatelty watch are Have I Got News For You, Not Going Out, Masterchef, Doctor Who & CSI (the original not the spins offs) but i have the tv on in the background so there are many shows i’ll have on but pay little attention to. I tape Inspector Morse and watch an episode here and there as well as having The Godfather films recorded but havent got around to seeing, will do at some point.

The BBC can be a bit funny in that for a few weeks they’ll put the same programme on at the same time and then suddenly it’ll change, and you’ve got to go online and see when it’s on next. That annoys me so much. I was looking foward to watching it on Friday a week or two ago and, to my dismay, they decided that they’ll not bother showing it.
Mock The Week
MTW was the reason for my now almost-obssesive love towards Chris Addison. I haven’t seen it for a while though

Forgot The Big Bang Theory. There are a lot of old comedies i still enjoy watching despite having seen them a ton of times eg Blackadder (seasons 2 – 3 and the Christmas Carol only), Father Ted, Only Fools and Horses (up to the ’96 christmas specials), Steptoe and Son, Fawlty Towers, Porridge.
I liked Mock The Week early on but over the last few years its been filled with comedians i cannot stand (Milton Jones, John Bishop) so i skip it.

Ehmmm
Well there’s not much good stuff on these days so..
Castle is something I watch, then programs about houses and decoration (I don’t know why I’m so fascinated by houses and the decoration of them.), yer regular talentshows sometimes, Absolutely Fabulous when the repeats are on, the Weakest Link sometimes, sometimes dr Phil when I find it’s interesting, and music documentaries when they’re on and interesting. I don’t really watch a lot of tv anymore.

I watch The Simpsons, but mostly the older stuff that’s on our computer. The Office is right up there (again the last couple of seasons aren’t on the same level as 1-7 ) as well as Conan O’brian who I absolutely LOVE!
Oh, and Judge Judy! Love that swift hand of Justice.
Also, there’s “Adventure Time with Finn and Jake” that I already mentioned…
Do it…

LHL,
If you like Conan, you should join Twitter just to follow his Tweets. He’s the only famous person on Twitter who only posts funny little jokes he made up — every day.
Examples:
“Just overheard a guy describe his friend as “Conan, if Conan wasn’t ‘Conan.’” Sadly, I know what he means.”
“Just learned that Spotify can’t turn people into dogs.”
“Came across this photo in a Civil War museum here in Atlanta. The resemblance is uncanny: http://bit.ly/1142oXh #ConanATL
“Anyone know any unusual taxidermy shops? I’m looking for a bear playing tennis.”
Also, did you ever see Conan’s interview with Paul he did many years ago?

I might just re-visit my twitter just for that reason. Thanks!
Yes I have seen that interview. It’s so awesome! The one from the 90’s right?
My ultimate dream is to be a guest on the Conan show when his other guest would be Tom Hanks, and his musical guest would be Paul. My three favourite people! My brain would explode from pleasure overload.
