Nigel, it might be a good idea that you edit your message and delete your name. I kind of freak out when people share real names asking for requests on Facebook on Internet. I suggest you sending each other PMs instead. 
I can do it, but I'd rather you edit it yourself. It's nothing wrong with that.. It's just for your safety.

Is it worth suggesting that people explain in the friend request that they’re BBFF people? I get quite a lot of friends-of-friends requests which I ignore; I’ve no idea why people bother if they don’t even know me.

I think it's so they can simply have one more friend. 🙂 Facebook apparently affects some people's self-esteem.

I'm debating friending people on here on my Facebook account, but I kinda like to keep it to people I know in real life. There are *some* exceptions, but it just works like that for me.
I'm still on the fence.
