The 1970’s were full of that “what if”, even ex-Beatles were doing it, except, significantly, Paul. There were greater expectations on him than anyone, and he refused to play to them. Throughout the decade he played rock/pop/whatever and except for the occasional nursery rhyme and bagpipe anthem, didn’t really stretch himself until McCartney II . It was already too late to make a change to all Western music by the Beatles breakup, it was splintering in 1968. But the Beatles did make that pop/classical mark anyway, and others carried it forward, just not as a replacement for everything else.

I'm like Necko only I'm a bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin and also everyone. Or is everyone me? Now I'm a confused bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin everyone who is definitely not @Joe.  This has been true for 2016 & 2017 Sig-Badge.png but I may have to get more specific in the future.

Starting Over is a great song that blends from original rock n’ roll to the styles dawning in the beginning of the 80’s. What direction was John’s music heading in?

Only music can save us.

I suspect that John would dabble in electronic music like Paul if still alive. Knowing how crazy he was over his Mellotron in the late ’60s makes me think he would be impressed with some of the musical toys out there these days.

I'm Necko.  I'm like Ringo except I wear necklaces.

I'm also ewe2 on weekends.

Most likely to post things that make you go hmm... 2015, 2016, 2017.

Also I should say that Paul had a Yamaha organ/synth that did a lot of duty for Wings songs most notably With A Little Luck, but mostly in a conventional sense and not until McCartney II did he give any indication he could think in a different way. On the other hand, it’s clear that Yoko was absolutely in tune with electronic dance styles on Double Happy and you’d think John wouldn’t be far behind.
