It’s only fitting, I haven’t had time to be on here what with having the most horrible year of my life and everything.

Wow, to win 3 awards outright, 1 tie and 1 joint victory is an honour. Very glad to be the most respectful Ringo fan with the best username, who’s one of the most hardcore and creative users; a real honour.
A massive congratulations to all the very worthy winners. Thanks to all who voted, and special thanks to LPD for running it.
Very pleased to be the most respectful user – an award I value highly

Am I hell sharing an award with anyone!!! They would only use it for their own needs and wants.
So I accept the awards awarded to me in full with no option for joint ownership, sharing or acknowledgement of others in anyway.
To those who didn’t vote for me and won in other categories.

Wow, what an incredible honour! When I became Beatles-fan-for-life 40 years ago, I certainly never could have foreseen myself winning three “Funniest Post” awards on an electronic message board that people across the world access with a home computer that they hold in their hand…
I want to thank all my fellow joint-winners in this category, as well as all the fellow nominees, and everyone who didn’t get nominated for anything but surely deserve to, your day will come. And of course to Little Piggy for all her hard work, we love ya In this crazy-ass year, I’m especially glad to be part of this community. Love you all, best wishes for 2021!

Wow, 3 awards this year! And new ones that I’ve never won before, to boot! I’m really honoured, thank you!
Congratulations to all the other winners, and thanks much to all who participated. Thanks much also to LPD for working hard running the awards this year.
Personally, I don’t think I support having categories removed just because someone happens to win them consistently. If you really are that good at something, is it so bad to be recognized for it? If we want to give newer members a better shot at winning awards, perhaps adding new categories, and giving rather than taking away, would be the better route.
As for changing the names of the awards, I fail to see the point unless there are any awards that people feel might be made more clear with a different title, or if there are any that could be given a better focus.

We can make some changes if you guys have any suggestions.

More than just one person winning, there are also categories that people tend to skip over like all the posts ones. Ones that most people skip over could be good removals.
Also, I think News and History could be combined into Beatleology or something.

I like the post ones. I think they’re fun, but you’re right that many people skip them. The only other ones that a lot of people skipped were best signature (which I personally think should be kept), and most likely to post things that make you go hmmm. I’m kind of indifferent to that one, but I think we can either re-word it or make it into a couple categories if others want. The meaning is a bit vague.
Also, I think News and History could be combined into Beatleology or something.
When I originally posted the poll this year they were combined, and the only response to that was negative. Does anybody who hasn’t previously commented on this have an opinion? If other people agree then we can talk about it.

I am not against changes being made, but there has to be a reason behind them, rather than just moving the furniture around and giving it a lick of paint for the sake of it, and it has to have the agreement of the majority of active Forumpudlians.
In my opinion, there are categories which shouldn’t be touched (categories that show our credentials as an engaged Beatles forum). I know some people get tired of people winning the same categories year after year, but that’s just the way people vote. When some people complain about History and News, suggesting they should be combined because I have won both for several years, they forget that – until she chose to leave us – News went to parlance every year. Someday someone will come along and be better at one, the other, or both of those things, and awards will move their way.
Changing the poll because the results are too samey each year would be a bad thing; changing the poll because there’s an idea or ideas that will improve it, or a category that has been missed, nothing wrong with that, so long as it’s agreed to.

I agree RN. We are, after all, a Beatles forum.
I wouldn’t mind renaming the ‘things that make you go hmmm’ as it’s very ambiguous, but I think we’ve got things mostly right.

I think there should at least be an award for ‘Best Newcomer’ or something like that. It should only be available to anybody who has joined the forum within the last twelve months, so you’ll be guaranteed a different winner every year.
This was an award the first year I was on the forum, I would definitely support bringing it back.

back when the forum was more active, News and History were different but with current trends and fewer members engaging with the forum, combining some categories makes sense with how things are being used now rather than the past.
