You appear to have collapsed two categories – “Most informed poster on Beatles history” and “Most informed poster on current Beatles news” – into one, “Most Informed on The Beatles”. I do not approve of this change as being good on their history is very different to keeping up to date on news stories relating to them. This change should have been agreed to by Forumpudlians before being made.Categories should not be removed or merged without agreement.
I agree, for a forum about the Beatles we should distinguish between the two.
Also, the ‘most likely to cheer someone up in a bad mood’ has been removed too – and you have ‘coolest username’ as well as ‘coolest nickname’ but no ‘coolest signatures’

Alright, I just think that should have been made more clear in the first place. While I don’t personally oppose the idea of “Most Inspiring Post” as a category, in a similar vein to what RN has said, what I do oppose is making changes to the awards without prior discussion or even mentioning that a change has been made at all. I think it only makes sense that we should be kept informed on what exactly we are voting for and why, and that we should be able to provide feedback on any potential changes before they are made.
Also, if this is to remain a category for future awards, I think it might be a good idea to have the Funniest Post/Creative Contribution thread edited to allow for “Most Inspiring Post” suggestions to be kept track of there. That way we won’t be having to search the entire forum to find something inspiring to vote for in the future.

Offline I don’t think that thread should exist at all. People should choose what they think the funniest/most creative posts are on their own, not because somebody else posted it in an easily accessible second thread. I keep lists or mental notes then at the end of the year I decide. That way nobody gets influenced by me and I don’t get influenced by other people.

I got no idea what I’ll go for, and will probably just go for one of my posts about Captain Sir Thomas Moore, one of the biggest inspirations in this dark year.
Maybe that would be better as a category, Biggest Inspiration of the Year? So not necessarily a post, just something or someone who’s inspired Forumpudlians.

While it seems that generally people aren’t opposed to it, I don’t see why that should have been included over, say, my suggestion of Most Musical User, or even Best User Named Timothy – suggestions that while no one responded, at least they were suggested where others could agree or disagree.
Also, if this is to remain a category for future awards, I think it might be a good idea to have the Funniest Post/Creative Contribution thread edited to allow for “Most Inspiring Post” suggestions to be kept track of there. Disagree, I for one am never going to remember a specific post from February, and that thread really helps me – and posts I don’t find funny at the time that are nominated by others often end up with my vote, because over time I may have found it funnier, or I’ve finally got the joke after a third reading. Also, it’s a nice thread to look back on at the end of the year.

This is my biggest problem. I always vote in every category, but I have literally no idea what I’m going to put for that, mostly because I haven’t been tracking it – and I have no desire to trawl through 50 pages of the In My Life thread where I will no doubt find the post for my vote.

Honestly I thought those were flippant suggestions and you guys were just naming things you thought you would win. This is also why I didn’t include “best user to join x date”. Sorry I didn’t realize those were serious responses.

Sounds to me like you don’t think they’re funny the first time because they weren’t reposted in a thread telling you they’re funny yet.
