I like the idea of a newbie award so that the awards don’t become an ‘old member fest’. A renaming would be good. There is probably a Beatley phrase about newbies/beginning that could work. I’ll give it some thought. Let me know if you have any rebranding ideas for the newbie award.

how about “A Beginning”? Or “Love is new. Love is all. Love is you.”

Or we could just call it the Yellow Submarine award. For new member most present aboard the Yellow Submarine .
Or just call it the New Member award.

What’s the USP of the Newbie award? Everyone who joins the forum is as valuable as anyone else, highlighting one over another for just being here is something I would never be in favour of.

But yeah, since most new members posts come from the game threads, the birthday thread (wishing everybody happy birthday), and other not very beatley threads, prolific is an unfair policy.
A most helpful award could be used in a non-beatles way, like, who had the best advice for stuff, solving forum problems, answering life questions, resolving disagreements, etc…
I forget if we already have a Most Helpful Award though.
I am you as you are you as you are you and you are all together.

How about “Love Me New”, since Love Me Do was their first single.
I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

How about we don’t have an award for just being new? My position is clear, as I seem to have started this conversation.
I really object to the idea of an award for being our favourite new member of the year. I won’t vote for it. How am I meant to decide which among the beautiful people who’ve become Forumpudlians this year is supposedly the best when they have all been (largely) brilliant?

It’s been discussed a number of times here and elsewhere on the forum, and the consensus is always to stay away from anything that is driven by highlighting popularity. The forum works best when everyone is seen as being as valuable as everyone else regardless of how much they post, how often, when they joined, how old they are etc. Voting on who is the best newbie, if that’s the premise of this award, is simply voting for who you like the best from who is new and, therefore, something I will never agree to.

By that logic, we shouldn’t have any awards.

Awards for funniest, most helpful, likely to keep a thread on track etc do so for specific reasons not just you’re new and I like you.

I’ve got an Idea for an award. We should make one for the person who seems to always be online 24/7. Similar to “the arts and crafts rat” going to the kid who is always hanging out in arts and crafts.

Hardcore Beatles Bibler covers that.
I’ll put a newbie award to a poll and delay the voting for a day. Even if a newbie award gets more yes votes, it will be renamed and like all options, it can be skipped over since you don’t have to vote for any option you don’t wish to.
