I had a thought a couple of days ago: What about Beatles Bibler most likely to make you happy? I don’t think that was an award last year.

I like this one, and I think making someone happy is different from cheering someone up. I think we should add this one, but If Annadog and others think they’re too similar to have together, I would vote to swap them out.

Since my account aas made after last year’s voting, would I be considered a “new member”?
I don’t think that I should count as a new poster and should be considered for the most prolific new member award.

There is no “Most Prolific New Member” Award, nor “Most Prolific Member”.
It’s not the quantity but the quality that matters.

What does “Most Likely to Post Things That Make You Go Hmmm…” mean? Does it mean “hmmm” like what they post makes you think about the vast intricacies of life? Or does it mean “hmmm” like it makes you think “what a unique/quirky/interesting/different perspective” (which let’s be real, is the nice way of saying “what a f*****g weirdo”).
I don’t usually use profanity, and I apologize, but I thought it was necessary in this instance in order to fully get what I was trying to say across, because without explaining, it wouldn’t seem much different from the first example.

Apologies, @sir walter raleigh, I didn’t notice that award last year, and had I done I would have objected.
Lots of people remember the aggravation that races to the rooftop used to cause, and an award for posting most encourages that same behaviour.
I request the removal of this award for not being in the true spirit of the forum.

That’s different from most prolific because prolific literally means fruitful which means that award is based off how much they post. I wouldn’t be against a “rookie of the year” award, though I’m not sure why it should be limited to new members.

I agree with Ron Nasty as well.
If one has an award for a certain quality, like being helpful, being well informed about latest Beatles news, or being funny, that’s one thing. But if one has an award that just says ‘best newbie’ or generally connects ‘best’ directly to a person, then it gets unprecise. And therefore, because of the lack of a quality on which one can base the voting, one will naturally look at the posting account at some point which could lead to posting for posting’sake and I think most will agree that posting for posting’s sake should be avoided.

But prolific doesn’t entail only quantity. Paul McCartney is prolific because he kept writing GREAT music throughout the years. Someone who releases 5 crap albums a decade would not be considered prolific.

Where in the definition of prolific is there anything that says it has anything to do with quality, @sir walter raleigh?
The statistics say which new member has posted most since joining, not a vote, and I dislike the idea of voting for someone just for joining the forum. It then starts becoming a popularity vote. I like votes based on contributions to the forum rather than just being on the forum and popular.

I think it was meant to be a ‘New Forumpudlian who we most feel like we can’t remember a time when they weren’t here be as they’ve integrated themself into the community so completely’ award. But that wasn’t very catchy, and a bit of a mouthful… so we had to call it ‘Most Prolific New Member’ instead, which I admit is not a very good title. Any suggestions on how to improve it?
