George’s suit was definitely orange. Paul and Ringo wore the same colours reversed: pink & blue vs blue & pink. John and George did the same. Each of the two pairs was connected to one of the other two by the colour of the details: silver/white for Paul and George, and gold/orange for John and Ringo. Of course, George and Paul also both wore their MBE’s, and there were other shared details. But yeah, John’s suit was green with orange details and George’s was orange with green. Not red. There was no red suit.

Offline Well I’ll be damned. All these years, I would have sworn on a stack of Beatles Bibles that George’s suit was red. I can definitely see the orange in certain pics but still see red (happily) in others.
From close up, it looks red.
While bit further back, I see the orange.
Can I get a burnt sienna?

LOL I love that… burnt sienna!!
All these years I’ve always seen it as being orange. Looks very orange at least to me in this video, give it a pause @ 3:28 for example and see the orange:

Offline I always thought it was a faded-looking orangey red. Something like an unripe tomato.
The trick of the light on the shiny satin makes it that much harder to tell exactly what colour it is, not to mention… ah… limited 1960’s colour photography.
