The BBC have released online a mini-episode prequel to The Day of the Doctor. For those trying to avoid spoilers, this is NOT a part of the 50th Anniversary episode, it shows events before it. It is The Night of the Doctor (and has a HUGE surprise!).

Just watched it on the iplayer (where its also available). Great to see Paul McGann (not a spoiler as he is billed) back as having seen Doctor Who:The Movie three times now i really like his portrayal of The Doctor (it takes a while getting used to him).
Must say i’m really looking forward to next Saturday’s special and there are some really good looking programmes on the bbc over the next week.

I would say it is a spoiler unless you know – which I didn’t until I saw it. The YouTube description just reads, “The Bringer of Darkness, the Oncoming Storm, the Doctor, the Warrior – A Time Lord! The 50th Anniversary features Matt Smith, David Tennant and a mysterious incarnation played by John Hurt. Only one appears in the mini episode, The Night of the Doctor. But which?” And his name in the opening credits does not appear until after he says, “I’m a Doctor”, and is revealed.

Considering there is a picture of which Doctor it is on the bbc iplayer (two different pages, same picture) i’d go with it not being one. If it was a spoiler then the bbc would be damn fools for putting his picture up where you click to watch it.

I’ll grant you the iPlayer, but my point was about there being no reference on the BBC’s YouTube posting of it. So I had no idea until I saw it.

Fair enough but i do stand by it not being a spoiler coming from the iplayer side of things – the first thing i saw was that picture of the actor as The Doctor and then realised it wasn’t an advert.
Now if i was to say what else happened in the mini-episode then quite rightly i should have both hands broken in 3 different places each.
Edit. The same pic is also on the main bbc home page as i type.

For those who are interested:
Amongst all the programmes celebrating and marking the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who BBC 4 are showing An Unearthly Child, the very first 4-part story, back-to-back from 22:30 (10:30pm) tomorrow night (Thursday 21st November).
And the Weeping Angles are far more terrifying than the Daleks.

On BBC America they are having a marathon all week. The new episode airs at 1:50 PM CT on Saturday.
I finally got hooked to the show after a few attempts. I don’t know about Nexflix UK, but over here they have the Doctor Who classic series, along with the 2005 + series on there. I got so much to catch up on.
There’s a TARDIS and two Daleks currently outside the entrance to my workplace. There’s a steady stream of people standing by them having their photos taken. Meh.

Go to the Google home searchpage, click on the play sign (the flashing second letter O) in the word Google, and you can play a Doctor Who game.
Ah cool I just went to Google UK and they have The Doctors in a row along with the game. Google in the US, nothing. Which is weird because I would have thought they would have done something for the JFK anniversary.
UPDATE: The US Google has switched to Doctor Who as well.

David Tennant is a Beatles fan. In this week’s Radio Times it reads that if he was to go anywhere in the TARDIS he would go to an early Beatles concert.
Just over 2 hours to go before the 50th anniversary show begins – yeay!!! I’ve avoided all trailers, articles on the show, promotional clips and everything else. You learn a lot from avoiding Tune In spoilers – hurry up December.

I’d read before he was into them. Makes me love him even more.
Without giving away spoilers, because I somehow managed to miss it, how good was it mmm?

Like most episodes of Doctor Who; some parts were brilliant, others left me wondering the colour of grass. Some really cool references to the past, very funny moments and John Hurt and Billie Piper were really good, possibly the best on screen. Definitely worth a repeat viewing, not just a one off watch and move on.

You do know they are showing it theaters tomorrow?
I don’t know when BBC when will show repeats. I know BBC America showed it three times, the original airing & two repeats, yesterday.
Someone will put online sooner or later.

Yeah, I knew it was showing in cinemas, though I couldn’t be bothered to look for any further info.

Considering what it had to live up to (I remember watching the Doctor on day 1) I thought it was absolutely great. Brilliant, crazy, confusing, enlightening, happy, sad and left me waiting anxiously for the next show (which I think is number 800?).

I thought it was a remarkable, game-changing episode that easily lived up to the hype. But if there was one scene that did it for me…
The Museum Curator! I didn’t know whether to cheer or cry when I heard that booming voice! He was my Doctor! The one I grew up with. Jon Pertwee was there when I first saw it, but it was Tom Baker who got imprinted on my mind. And such a beautiful and enigmatic exchange between him and Matt Smith. Bound to become one of those conversations that Whovians pore over to try and work out it’s meaning.
