It’s so good!! The guitar arrangement is wonderful, normally fingerpicked songs tend to all follow a similar template harmonically but your playing sounds so unfamiliar and new (in a good way)! There’s a snippet in one of the Bowie books I’ve read about him playing the Hunky Dory songs on a crappy 12 string guitar, with the point being that if they sounded good played on that, then they’d sound incredible done properly. I think you go further than that, though (not that your guitar is crappy lol) – the song works just as well in this simple format as it might recorded with a full band. Excellent work, and I hope we hear more original stuff from you soon

Riding off the spike of motivation I get every time one of you posts a song and I become enamoured with your talents, I finally finished a song I’ve been working on for a while. It’s a bit louder and more aggressive than my other songs, not to mention quite a bit more political. Anyways, I hope you enjoy 🙂

Thanks! I do have a mic but I rarely use it because I very much dislike my voice, really the only reason I include vocals is to have a record of what the melody is supposed to go like in case I ever get to record the song with a competent singer.

Bebu – that was very, very pleasing. Definitely want to hear more like that! Great progression there, harmonically sound (bad pun intended).
QM – that was a great groove! Loved the guitar riff, had a bit of attitude to it!
Fantastic stuff y’all!

Tho I wonder were you got the “I look at you all” lyric
Give it to Spector. Let him add some strings to it.
Thanks, will do
I dunno, it sounds vaguely familiar, doesn’t it…? Can’t think where I might have heard it…
ewww no, I think a wall of sound would ruin the vibe of it…

Awww thanks! Not sure what “if-earlyish-Pink Floyd-soundtracked-a-supernatural-decadent-period-drama-on-Hulu” would sound like, but earlyish Pink Floyd is, as you know, my JAM and I’m glad you liked it, I’ll be sure to record more.

Yes, I really outdid myself with the guitar arrangement on this one. I’m afraid I have never managed to do anything else quite like it, nor play it the same way twice…
If I were to arrange it further, I’m really not sure how I would go about it, honestly. It’s a very low-key, rainy day, solitary musings song. I’d probably keep it fairly stripped-down and add something unconventional, like woodwinds. I could also jam to some atmospheric slide guitar maybe… anyone have any ideas?

Oooh punky… not my kinda music at all, normally, but I like the guitar tracks very much! I wish I could understand the lyrics a bit better, though. I think if you worked on your enunciation and confidence to match the attitude of the riff, you could manage a perfectly passable punky vocal. There’s nothing really wrong with your voice. My advice is to just listen to yourself till you get used to it, which is what I’ve had to do – it’s taken me ages not to hate my voice, and also lots of people telling me it sounded good and like Dhani Harrison and nice things like that and also my singing has improved, largely in part from hearing myself and being able to pinpoint what I need to improve.

*distant screaming* sharing this is terrifying buthere is a song I wrote ages ago and have just recently plucked up the courage to record and share with more people than just my best bandmate (YT: Mullings (Original Song))
Well you’re braver than me, I would never put myself on youtube in actual sunlight that people could see in , but I loved the tastefully arranged Revolver album! And it’s a very pretty song, well played, and you got a great recording of it, so well done there too. I’m still a month away from getting my acoustic and this makes me very keen to get into it.
@QuarryMan that’s a very interesting song too, really takes me back to my 80’s punk days, not simply the style but the approach of the lyric and the way you’ve recorded in that dry upfront way, I really like that, and it’s not an easy thing to perform because mistakes are really obvious (which is why I cheat and bury things in reverb ).
The talent on this little forum is really impressive, every time I see or hear another step from you all along your musical journeys feels like a gift, its such a great thing to share.

I’m assuming it’s yours, @Beatlebug, in which case it’s very impressive. You have a very natural composition style, your songs sound like classics if they were sung by a huge artist. Loving the variability in tone of them as well! Expect congratulating messages in this very thread any time now by everybody, I think they’re gonna love it as much as I do. You’re very talented

That’s a good little rocker there @Beatlebug – a very effective mood created. Great stuff!
If you were to put it into a full band set-up (and you should, I think it’s perfect for a full band backing), I think it would sound really, really good with a bassline similar to Twist And Shout , don’t you think? A bassline that sort of goes everywhere, a little messy – it would help express the mood well, methinks.
God I’m rambling, but I hope you agree

Thanks so much! I’m quite pleased with that one. And yes, Holey, I’m absolutely planning on doing it with my band, with wanky harmonica and a nice snare fill before the 2nd chorus… I was thinking the bass could play the 1st and 3rd beats while the guitar plays the 2nd and 4th.

My questions are:
1) What is the black thing that the flag is reflecting off behind you?
2) Is your flag outside (as it is blowing in the what I assume is a breeze) and if so do you have a flag right outside your window?
3) If yes to the second part of question 2, does your flag disrupt your access to sunlight?
