Ahhh so much new stuff I gotta listen to! Also, thanks for the shoutout @sigh butterfly, you’re too kind. I’ve only recorded covers as yet, but I have some originals I’ve been sitting on that I need to properly finish and learn and perform and record and… sigh if the COVID19 lockdown had made my days 48 hours instead of 24, that would have been good anyway, I’ll listen to all the stuff sooner or later…

@QuarryMan , I was digging those tracks! Loved how easy they were to listen to – and that’s definitely a good thing. St Lucy’s Day would have to have been my favourite – great electric piano sound there, great mood. Would love to hear more!!

Wow, definitely make “Stuck in School” the A-side, Holey, it’s super! I’m always susceptible to that kind of discoish octave-bass playing, and your lead guitar bits are really well thought out (or improvised?) Also I agree with SWR regarding your singing. You have a very unaffected, natural voice, it sounds very much like your spoken voice, I imagine.Anyways, sounds like a Top 5 smash hit single for sure, at least in some other universe. This record ‘slaps’, it is ‘a bop’, and all the other pimply hyperboles. A great job as usual, turn it up! (Wrong thread)
Right, it’s a double A-side then! The lead guitar was probably 70% thought out and 30% improvised iirc? And yes… my singing voice is very similar to my spoken voice Glad you like it!

@The Hole Got Fixed I’m very impressed with the recording, the drums really DO suit that song better than mine because yours is more poppy with space around the kit and most of the sustained notes are vocal and keyboards. Mine is awash with guitar so it was more difficult to get a clean drum sound and I had to be content with a more shall we say “impressionistic” mix Well done again on your efforts! Also I really really liked the vocal and acoustic recording on Something To Do, the stereo picture was wide and glorious

@Vera Chuck and Dave those demos sound like the full-length you’re planning will be fantastic! Great mood there, and a great sound from the instruments too. Good job, I look forward to the end result!

Inspired by all the recent postings I’ve decided to make a soundcloud account and post some of my demos. Here’s a little EP I made called ‘Ramblings’:
https://soundcloud.com/j-coltr…..772/albums
‘Regrets’ is basically a standard rock song from about 2 years ago, with terrible lyrics I came up with right before recording them.
‘Song to Björk’ is a Talking Heads inspired instrumental with lyrics I adapted from Caliban’s speech in Shakespeare’s The Tempest.
‘St Lucy’s Day’ is a random electronic instrumental I made when I was messing around with Logic.
‘Sun City’ is another standard rock song. Please excuse the very quiet vocals on this, the song isn’t really in my ideal range but I like the instrumental so I included it anyway.
And here’s another song I wrote and recorded this morning called ‘Driftwood’. It’s an indie folk style song about the coronavirus.
Yo, your stuff is awesome too!
You have a voice similar to King Krule. Very deep and personal. Personally, St. Lucy’s Day was my favourite, it’s very smooth and chilling and tasteful. I definitely vibe to that type of music.
Btw this is my 100th post yay

I listened to your music, @ewe2 and @QuarryMan and I’m impressed! I doubt that Qman was trying to sound like the Meat Puppets of “Under The Sun” but that’s what the guitar parts kinda reminded me of. (I shared “Driftwood” on my facebook feed, hope you don’t mind.) And I really like your singing voice, @ewe2.
We have so many talented souls on this forum – and so many of them still in their teens! Kids really are our future.
@Vera Chuck and Dave , I’ll get to your stuff very soon…

I was actually referring to the album, Up On The Sun , not just the title track. Something about your guitar sound reminded me of them. Check ’em out!

@QuarryMan I just came around to hearing your tracks. really great vibe. well written and produced. tbh based on your listening tastes i was expecting something more sonically experimental, but I’d categorize that as ‘easy listening’ and I’m into it.

Heh, I’d definitely like to take my stuff down a more experimental route at some point, but sadly there’s a limit to what you can do with Logic Pro and a guitar, lol. I do have some much more ‘out there’ stuff recorded, though – some really noisy Velvet Underground style songs and some attempts at jazz. And thanks!

Very nice! I like the way the guitars are layered, “Wishing Well” in particular.
Will the final product have vocals/lyrics? (I can imagine them working as instrumentals or actual songs)

This is another cover, this time of a Neil Finn song called Paradise (Wherever You Are) from an album he did with his brother Tim called Finn. I’ve had this sitting around for a month or so but I took another listen and decided it wasn’t that bad it just needed a tweak or two and it’s fine.

I think the clever part is the ukuleles, very simple but lovely use of the instruments sound. I’ve been practicing my falsetto as you can hear

Beautiful @ewe2. I agree about the ukuleles, but I liked everything else too. Made me feel like I was sitting on a tropical island, daydreaming wistfully of my someday lover that I haven’t met yet – which I can assure you is not something I have ever been known to feel.
